Gov. Phil Scott detailed a $3 million program tucked into his Budget Adjustment Act that would assist rural communities addressing water quality, housing, helping communities recover, and workforce development initiatives.
Governor Phil Scott on Friday delivered his seventh budget address to the General Assembly, taking advantage of historic surpluses to make strategic investments in areas that produce the greatest return — all without raising taxes.
Governor Scott presented his FY2024 budget to the Legislature on Friday, calling on them to help rejuvenate small towns during the 2023 legislative session, following up his call to action in the inaugural address from a couple weeks ago.
“We find ourselves at a rare moment in history, with one-time money that those who came before us could only dream of, to tackle issues we have faced for decades. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And the only thing that could stand in its way is us. So, let’s not squander it.”
Vermonters want us to work together. They want balance and moderation. They made that clear when electing me with about 70% of the vote and Democratic ‘super-majorities’ in the Legislature. This type of thoughtful, balanced government is what gets the best results.
I am hoping Republicans show their response to his failure by not voting for him yet again. If we don’t send a strong message then it will show that the VT GOP stands for nothing.
“I’m a big proponent of EVs,” Gov. Phil Scott answered. “I do believe we have to wean ourselves off internal combustion vehicles as soon as possible.”
In an appearance on “The Morning Drive” radio program Wednesday, Gov. Phil Scott addressed a series of topics ranging from rising crime and homelessness to the results of last week’s primary election.
“The CHIPS and Science Act is good for our country and good for the state of Vermont. We have a growing technology hub in the state and as we look to grow our economy, we need to retain the companies we have, and recruit new ones to expand here.”
Gov. Phil Scott held his regular media briefing this week at Shat Acres Highland Cattle, where he discussed challenges in the agriculture sector and declared August “Agritourism” Month in Vermont.
He has been such an impediment to the GOP, but people couldn’t see that. Of course he couldn’t champion conservative values and ideas, being a progressive.
