A lawsuit filed in May on behalf of several Democratic voters asked the court to reject maps for the 24 Senate districts and five Executive Council districts that were approved by the House and Senate and Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, who signed legislation authorizing the changes.
In a letter to the Democratic Party’s legal counsel, Attorney General John Formella said the mailers urging voters to request absentee ballot applications for the midterm elections provided the wrong addresses for city and town clerks and other errors that are “causing voter confusion and frustration” for voters.
The Conservation Law Foundation said a draft plan to manage solid waste, landfilling, recycling and composting over the next 10 years is “inadequate and uninspiring” and means New Hampshire will continue to be a “dumping ground” for garbage from Massachusetts and other surrounding states.

“Expensive energy – pursuing policies that raise the cost of energy – directly and negatively impacts New Hampshire families and businesses and the quality of life in our state,” the report’s authors wrote. “As such, the priority of the strategy is to organize goals around cost-effective energy policies.”
The New Hampshire Executive Council has blocked funding for the state’s reproductive centers amid concerns the money will be used for abortions and emergency contraception. This was the fourth time that the council had rejected contracts proposed by state health officials for Planned Parenthood.
The cost of resurfacing roadways in New Hampshire is going up amid high prices for crude oil used to make asphalt and fuel, forcing the state to spend more money on scheduled transportation upgrades.
The review will look at whether municipalities have the authority to “take any action that restricts or prohibits the types or fuel sources of energy production which may be used, delivered, converted, or supplied to customers.” Several communities have set “net-zero” carbon reduction goals that include a shift to reliance on renewable energies.
New Hampshire education officials are planning to give out millions of dollars to schools to help them harden their buildings and train educators to respond to intruders with guns. About $3.3 million will be available in the first round of grant funding for public schools. The remaining $10 million will be distributed to qualifying public and private schools.
