VTGOP asks Sen. MacDonald to respond to theft of Klar signs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VTGOP Chair Paul Dame issued the following video statement regarding video evidence of Mark MacDonald’s Possession of Stolen Property”

“Over a week ago Republican Senate Candidate John Klar went to visit his opponent Mark MacDonald in order to discuss a joint statement asking both supporters to put an end to the theft of yard signs. While at the property John Klar provided video evidence that Mark MacDonald was in possession of Klar’s yard signs. Since Klar did not give a yard sign to MacDonald, the sign in MacDonald’s yard must have been stolen either by MacDonald himself, or by someone else and then given to MacDonald.

Klar’s video can be found here:

We are calling on Sen. MacDonald to explain how John Klar’s sign got onto his property, and whether MacDonald had any intention of returning the sign to either the Klar campaign or the rightful owner.

Sign theft has been a constant complaint of candidates from every party for every office for decades. But never before has there been evidence that a sitting senator himself may have been involved in such a petty activity.

  1. Would this be the same “Senator Mack” that spent some of the last legislative session crafting a bill to retest senior auto licensees to be sure they could drive in spite of their age? Really just another way to fleece the elderly and more revenue for the DMV. Geeze, a road test with an officer could probably be worth $100.00 per hour. The paper test another $30 to $40 at least. The best thing for the voters would be to pay him to stay home. He really is not needed in Vermont government. And no I have not already said that as True North suggests.

  3. Nothing will happen.

    Why?

Because you can malign and support the other party with no consequence. You can sign bills against the constitution and still remain in the party.

Sign stealing is evidence of vapid arguments and no platform. Hence the need to steal signs. It’s what communists do, censor, censor, censor…..and the Romans did for compliance, cancel, cancel, cancel……

If the VTGOP had a spine they would investigate and jettison the thief, but hell will freeze over before that happens. Wish they would prove me wrong.

  4. Stealing yard signs pales in comparison to WCAX conducting candidate debates, but only has Scott and Siegel debating? My illegal mail-in ballot shows there are five candidates running for governor? Clear violations of equal time rule, Communications Act of 1934. See how the press manipulates and colludes to rig elections? Honest and fair [s]elections is an absolute lie!

  5. Great video! But I must say Vermont campaigns have really gone down hill since I ran. I do not recall sign theft as even being a slight issue, except of course by road crews. But I always tried to put my signs on a personal property of a supporter, which there were plenty. I will say, that there were a number of times that I would go to a home sporting a sign of my opponent and before leaving that sign was swapped, by the property owner, with one of my signs and it stayed that way until the night of the election when I always drove all over the county to pick up the signs. All I did to accomplish that was be completely honest about where I stood on the issues.

Visiting hundreds and hundreds of homes, if not thousands, I never once had a bad experience. It was so wonderful. But we now live in a world where speech and even thought is controlled with a heavy hand as ideas that should be unimaginable are forced onto the people and even onto children. For every force there is an equal and opposite force and that is what we are experiencing. Something will break. I pray it is not the American spirit for free-markets, including the market of ideas.

  6. During the 2016 election, when Trump won….I saw that Trump lawn signs rarely (if ever) lasted overnight (Montpelier area) .. But Democrats signs were never touched.. It’s just how Liberals operate…full of hate, entitlement & any Saul Alinsky tactic is fine.. But the worst was…I was at Hunger Mtn Co-Op (a Progresive’s heaven)….and I saw an very elderly man in the parking lot, nearly crying…by his 20 year old pickup that he had restored himself. He had two Trump stickers on his rear bumper. When he came out from the store he immediately saw that both sides of his truck had been viciously “keyed”…really deep.. He was near tears…He said he was a decorated Korean War veteran and this is not right.. He went to store mgmt and they showed little sympathy.. Just another example of who Progressives & Democrats really are…they will lie, steal yard signs, key cars & commit voter fruad…if it gets them “power”…. all is fair if it acheive their end.

    • The first sign I put up in the Rutland area disappeared, so I put up two, they disappeared, so I put up four, whoever was disappearing them gave up at that point.

  7. Why does it not surprise me. This is the same guy who made a stupid comment during this past year about something he did not know which he should have. It was noted in this publication and I cannot remember what the subject was.
