A bill that would have Vermont automatically mail out live ballots to all active voters on the statewide checklist has passed the Senate and is currently in the House Committee on Government Operations. Here’s what you need to know about this bill.
In this third installment of an investigative series into Vermont election security and the impacts of S.15, we look to town clerk feedback, and what simple measures could be included in S.15 to make it work, and another option to mass mailing ballots every election.
Secretary of State Jim Condos, Lt. Gov. Molly Gray and Attorney General T.J. Donovan joined a bipartisan coalition of over 50 current or former statewide elected leaders calling upon corporate leadership to speak out following the passage of Georgia’s voting law.

Democrats have repeatedly denounced the new Georgia election integrity law that requires IDs for absentee ballots, but seldom criticize blue states that have comparable laws on their books — or in some cases, laws making it more difficult to vote than in Georgia.

Senate Bill 7 would slash extended early voting hours, make it illegal for local officials to send absentee ballot applications to qualified individuals without them first requesting one and completely end drive-thru voting, the method used by approximately 127,000 Texans during the 2020 election.
H.B. 7041 would implement voter ID requirements for mail-in voting and limit who can drop off a ballot at a drop box to an immediate family member or somebody living at the same residence as the elector.
The other part of the new Georgia law that has drawn ire and fire is the ID requirement. But let’s consider the actual law, not the media version of it.
S.15, an act related to correcting defective ballots, passed the Vermont Senate on March 18 by a vote of 27-3. The purpose of the legislation is to make election policies and procedures adopted during the Covid pandemic emergency permanent features of Vermont elections.
