Nicole Citro, founder  of the pro F35 Green Ribbon campaign, held a press  conference today to remind her fellow Vermonters to what the  Vermont Air National Guard (VTANG) accomplished on 9/11: protecting America from any further threat to the homeland.

Immediately after the two jets hit the WTC, the Green Mountain Boys were flying fighter cover over New York City, ready to warn off or if necessary shoot down any dangerous aircraft.

“No one could have imagined before that day a scenario where evil would invade us on our own soil and strike us at our hearts, ” Ms. Citro,  a South Burlington business owner,  said at her Kimball Ave. office. “The brave men and women of the 158th Fighter Wing did not hesitate for a millisecond when it was clear our nation was under attack. ”

The Air National Guard was an integral part of the protection that day….suddenly our Green Mountain Boys were deployed,  not to some place half a world away as most deployments take them, but right here at home. ”

The Guard’s rapid,  effective deployment over NYC on 9/11 played a positive role in the Air Force decision to replace VTANG F16’s with F35s, the most modern US fighter jet.  The Air Guard’s mission continues to include air defense against attacks on the U.S. homeland, Ms. Citro said. The F35 will make that defense,  if necessary,  all the more viable, she said.

  1. I say if Burlington doesn’t want the air national guard bring them to Springfield. The runway is more than long enough, I live about 2miles away from the airport and would be proud to have them in Windsor county, you will get no complaints from me about the noise,

  2. Wonder how many of these protesters were alive, old enough, or knew someone who died on 9/11. I qualify for all of the above and let me tell you protesters, you don’t have a clue!!!.

  3. It just goes to show the importance of the Vermont Air National Guard and its place in the
world on terror towards the US.

Vermont and it’s hand full bleeding heart Liberals, protesting the Air Guard and the new F35,
these are the same ” whiners ” that will be the first beg them for help if and when needed just
    you’re typical hypocrite

Oh yeah, if you live next to an airport, it’s going to be loud ……….. Idiots !!

    • I have a few questions for these “protesters” of the F35’s. #1 was it quiet when them planes hit the towers? #2 were the people jumping 118 floors out of the towers quiet? #3 were the 2900 people who died in the towers quiet as they were trying to get out? #4 was the plane that hit the pentagon quiet as it hit? #5 was the plane and people on it quiet when it crashed in shanksville PA? were the firefighters, paramedics, and all recues personal quiet when they were losing their life? it seems to me these “protesters” have FORGOT 9/11. they should NOT be living in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA! You don’t want the F35’s protecting your DUMB **** then get GET OUT! I’m sure our GREEN MOUNTAIN BOYS would escort you OUT of the country and in a hurry. GET A LIFE Protesters! Our FREEDOM, OUR SAFETY. Bring on the F35’s … I cant wait to HEAR and see them.

      • Kevin, excellent comments. Unfortunately the big public education monopoly is helping to create a society of whining protesters and not productive citizens or Patriots.
