If you are looking for a silver lining, this report on spiking homicides in increasingly-crime-riddled Democrat Vermont does imply that at some point in the past there were more homicides in a year than in 2022.
A deadly shooting in Rutland this week marked the 20th Vermont homicide so far this year, the highest number since 1992 when there were 21.
Going back as far as 2013, there were only 10 homicides in Vermont, according to FBI data. That number climbed to 17 in 2017. The lowest number in this period was last 2021, with nine homicides.
The Donkeys are blaming gun violence in a state that has been increasing regulation of firearms as Democrats’ grip on power has solidified. And after Tuesday, they now hold veto-proof majorities in the state legislature, making Gov. Phil Scott even more of an empty-suited figurehead in a declining Democracy — unless he’d like to declare a state of emergency over those election results so he can write a few emergency orders.
Not that he would. He’s what a Southern Republican would call — what’s the word — a Democrat.
Also, no mention that most of this “gun” violence happens in its #wokest, progressive city – Burlington (the blackhole into which the state has been sucked politically).
Is anyone in a betting mood? It’s only Nov. 11. With the economic pressures, the holidays, and the ongoing inevitable failure of progressive government, will Vermont find a way to get past 21 homicides in 2022?
I hope not for the sake of Vermonters, but I will go with yes.
Democrats will also impose more gun restrictions, and violent crime will get worse. It always does.
Granite Staters in the Connecticut River Valley should keep their arms and ammunition handy. We don’t want any of that violent crime spilling over into New Hampshire.
Republican ruled Mississippi has a murder rate 10 times Democrat Vermont. The five states with the highest murder rate are Republican states. All five are twice the national homicide rate. Vermont is less than half the national homicide rate. Facts can be inconvenient.
Typical nonsense . Sorry, you lose. It is the total POPULATION to look at, not muder rates. Mississippi has just under FIVE TIMES the population of VT. Then look at who and what the muders are in relation to and perhaps ethnic groups.. Then answer why VT has a 1.5% black population but many times more than that of blacks incarcerated in VT for serious crimes.
NEXT? Look at the TOP TEN major, big cities with highest murder rates? every one…democrat, sorry.
Sorry to burst your bubble again…look at ALL Dem runs states and muder rates….don’t selct just 10…and you will find that Dems states are worse.
Blue States (D) had 7,678 murders in 2014, of that 5,454 murders committed using firearms.
Red States (R) had 5,233 murders in 2014, of that 3,636 murders committed using firearms.

Peter: I’m sorry but you are delusional. The democratic party is the party of no bail criminal release, legalized drugs, the disarmament of law abiding citizens with the resulting inability to defend themselves from CRIMINALS…and the party that wants to defund law enforcement making it even easier for criminals to run loose and commit more crime. This is exactly what is happening in Vermont. Your political ideology is so out of touch with reality, it’s unbelievable. VT’s “Queen City” where a majority of these crimes have been committed is run and has been for decades by the Progressives . The other VT metropolises are infested with drugs and crimes , thereafter , brought in from out of state drug runners.
All those murders in red states take place in dem run cities!

The democrats could care less about how many people are being shot. They will ring their hands and decry how evil guns are, when in reality they believe those killed are collateral damage on the path to total disarmament of law abiding Americans.
I wonder what the death rate is today when adding in suicide, drug overdose, and sudden adult death syndrome? Is the depopulation plan working out? Are we on target or do we need to amp up the boosters, empty out more prisons or will rolling winter blackouts get us there?

Despite the hugely disproportionate number of these incidents committed by “tourists” to our area, demoprogs will waste no time blaming and penalizing law-abiding Vermont gun owners. This is the twisted logic of the left…to cripple the police and prosecution and at the same time, make it tougher for decent people to act in their own defense against the criminal element. We voted for this.
Watching and reading the news on a daily basis, it seems like one demographic is primarily responsible for the bulk of the violence, whether it be by gun, knife, or whatever, and many seem to migrate from cities south of VT and NH. Most appear to be somehow involved in entrepreneurial careers related to the “pharmaceutical” industry. So nice that we are seeing a level of both equity and equality in these pursuits.
