Rep. Charles Wilson: The ruling majority are the ones negatively affecting our lives

This commentary is by state Rep. Charles Wilson. He is a resident of Lyndon and the House member for the Caledonia-2 district.

It has been reported to me among strong supporters that some feel I am negative. Negative is defined as “marked by the absence, withholding or removal of something positive.” I will remind all that my reports are from actual reports from the House floor and Committee, so if there is negativity, it comes from the Democratic/Progressive majority who are spending taxpayer money, thinking themselves so helpful and wonderful — but the end game is overburdensome taxes, fees, regulations and programs which are obviously unsustainable. They are hurting the poor, elderly, low income, the retired on fixed incomes, and small businesses. The ruling majority are the ones negatively affecting our lives.

It would be very easy to go along with the majority and what is popular. It is another thing to inform firsthand to hopefully save what is good and needs little changing. The new “reset” comes with negative impact on “We the People” that have no say. I represent those who cherish life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I put my life on hold in order to stand up to the tyranny of the left on socialism.

In the House of Representatives, I have been told we are to work things out by crossing over party lines. Not in this Vermont Legislature — not one amendment or Republican conservative bill is brought up or gone through because the ruling parties are negative to the core, or against common sense free speech!

School children are used like “carrots before a donkey” to lead them to the left’s propaganda. An example would be from a school child who comes and tells their parents that they must sell their cows because they are polluting the planet. There have been large protests at the State House chanting “fossil fuels must go!” Is this teaching children? I think not.

Are we to believe our governments and special interest groups, for their own gain, can stop all gas, diesel, coal, etc., and change everything to electric with no real plan or doing anything about pollution, and not considering at all the cost to electrify Vermont? Just sell propaganda and tax the people — and this will all fail and the left will be caught in their own web.

In the 1950s, prayer was taken out of schools. In the 1960s the U.S. Supreme Court said “they knew pornography when they saw it but they can’t define it.” Education, in many schools, is stealing our children. In the 2020s Vermont is one of the least churched states in the U.S. Is it any wonder that in 2023 the left tries to cure everything with money and lets decent morals go down the drain? Good is bad and bad is good. Vermont is small and easy to manipulate. No small wonder how we got here. I am so tired of all those who say they love Vermont and then proceed to change everything.

I live for the days — and they will come — when all that is good will be restored and there will be no more intentional division. Our Constitution is to protect us from tyranny and lawlessness in government.

  1. Yup Charles, Fascists got to be fascists…. which includes controlling everyone’s lives because they know best what’s best for you whether you like it or not. The sad fact is most of them live in a alternate reality called bazzaro world… and most of them are also flatlanders who invaded VT then took control of our state to turn it into a liberal hell… Good to see we have a few common sense Vt’ers still under the golden dome.

    • We now have 3 carpet baggers representing us in the DC swamp, One representing the communist/socialist faction of the US, One representing the lgbqrst faction of the US and one representing the leftist agenda of the US. None represent Vermont taxpayers.

  2. Ugh! Right On Rep Wilson! It’s about time someone stood up for us middle class Vermonters!
I was beginning to think no one with a brain was listening up there on the Hill! I am sick to death of being sucked dry by the state I chose to live in.. No real plan for anything just someone’s feel good dumb ideas that leave us all worse off more and more every year!
Why can’t Vermont make these changes needed in a realistic sensible way, The power grid needs to be updated before we jump in with both feet and take us off Fossil fuels and not the other way around!
We do not live in a state that is sunny and warm all year around, and I would prefer not to freeze to death in the winter trying to live up to someone’s dumb ideas!
Where is the common sense ???

  3. You point out their Negative Results and yet you are the negative one Mr.Wilson.. funny how that works eh?

Gosh what a shock.. we can see why these very people work so hard at censorship and destroying Free Speech Rights.

I recall the days where we are not allowed to post a single comment at the Digger expressing anything that was “Reality”.
If you were not a cheerleader for them, you didn’t get posted.

So none of this should surprise anyone in Vermont- the land of happy thoughts.
