Planned Parenthood of Northern New England says unsure how abortion pill ruling ‘will ultimately play out’

ABORTION BY A PILL IN JEOPARDY: Following a recent federal court decision, a popular abortion drug will be off the market starting this Saturday.

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is taking note of a federal court ruling in Texas that has implications for the availability of Mifepristone, a type of medication that can induce an abortion.

“As you may have heard, late last night a judge in Texas issued an injunction revoking the Federal Drug Administration’s approval of Mifepristone, one of two drugs commonly used in what is known as medication abortion,” the release sent Saturday states.

“While this is devastating news, the ruling does not go into effect for at least seven days; the approval of mifepristone remains intact until at least April 14,” it adds.

It continues that the organization will stay resilient against the ruling.

“Medication abortion is still safe, legal, and accessible. At Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, we are committed to continuing this critical care — no matter what.”

However, the pro-abortion organization isn’t making any predictions regarding what happens next.

“We don’t know how this case will ultimately play out, but every American is affected by this ruling which will potentially eliminate options for people seeking abortion care,” the press release states. “The shocking reality is that the judge in this case ignored science and medical evidence and instead put politics ahead of people’s basic rights and freedoms.

“Everyone should have the ability to make decisions about their own reproductive lives and futures, including choosing the method of abortion that works best for their circumstances.”

What’s the media saying?

The Hill reports what may happen next, which is likely an ongoing legal process.

“Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) officials have so far signaled that the federal government plans to fight this decision in court,” the report states.

Those at the Biden administration Department of Justice were not thrilled with the ruling.

“The DOJ said the ruling had ‘upended decades of reliance’ by blocking the FDA’s approval, which has been in effect for more than 20 years,” a DOJ statement reads.

The NYPost reports there is already political pushback to the decision.

“Around the same time, District Judge Thomas O. Rice, an Obama appointee from Washington, ordered the opposite — barring authorities from restricting access to mifepristone in at least 17 states where Democrats have sued to protect availability,” their report states.

Mixed nationwide support for abortions

According to a Forbes.com report, this development is another blow to abortion advocates. However, it suggested Americans still generally support abortion, at least at the beginning stages.

“A federal judge ruled Friday the abortion drug mifepristone should have its federal approval revoked, the latest blow to abortion rights since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June—coming even as polling shows a clear majority of Americans supports abortion remaining legal, even if there are varying degrees of support depending on the circumstances,” the report states.

It continues that 85% of Americans support abortions in all or most scenarios during the first trimester but that number drops to 36% and then 20% for the second and third trimesters respectively.

Dangerous side effects

According to a report on Drugs.com, the intention of the drug is not for abortions. It states “Do not use mifepristone if you are pregnant. It could harm the unborn baby or cause a miscarriage.”

The same site’s description for side effects includes the warning, “Before prescribing mifepristone, advise the patient about these serious risks,” which include on rare occasions death caused by infections, sepsis which is also infection-related, and other serious conditions.

  1. The death merchants are upset. If they can’t kill or maim in the name of freedom and democracy, their Masters will not pay them based on their body counts. What do they get per head these days?
