All Republican governors except Gov. Scott ask Biden administration to rescind Title IX guidance

Twenty-five of the nation’s 26 Republican governors have asked the Biden administration to shelve its intent to expand Title IX protections to transgender athletes.

The letter, led by the signature of Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, says the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed regulation should be withdrawn pending litigation that could be addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The signature of Vermont Republican Gov. Phil Scott is not on the letter.

“The Department’s proposed regulation would attempt to coerce compliance with an uncertain, fluid, and completely subjective standard that is based on a highly politicized gender ideology,” the letter reads.

The letter comes as the public comment period ends Monday on a proposed revision to Title IX that would ban state and local governments from prohibiting transgender students from participating on sports teams aligned with their gender identity.

Title IX was created to increase opportunities for female athletes. Federal funds can be withheld from those found to be in violation. The law, which was passed in 1972, prohibits discrimination based on sex for school districts, universities, museums and other educational institutions that receive federal funds.

“Compelling a subjective, athlete-by-athlete analysis controlled by a student’s self-identified ‘gender identity’ enforced under threat of Department retribution affords no clarity,” the letter reads. “It does the opposite. This ‘fluid’ subjective standard ensures chaos and confusion in schools and will no doubt result in protracted and disruptive litigation.”

Twenty-one states prohibit transgender students from participating on sports teams that do not align with their biological sex at birth, according to the Movement Advancement Project that tracks state policies.

The letter was signed by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy, Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, Idaho Gov. Brad Little, Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Missouri Gov. Mike Parson, Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte, Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin, West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice and Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon.

  1. The reason could be his woke-SJW staff shredded the letter and he never saw it. He asked his Master and his Master said no and he collected his stipend for being “a good boy.” I’m sure his staff is now firing up the GPchat for a profound, pandering, platitude-filled, response.

  2. He’s owned by the queer faction and apparently would rather support 5% of the population which are mentally ill over the Real XX women which seems like a slap in the face to them and is a affront to actual science. If trannies want to be in sports they should compete against their own kind not a physically less capable person. All that does is take away the women’s right to have equal competition. I will never accept them for who they think they are if they can’t accept who they were born as.

    • While we’re talking about support for trannies why aren’t we being shown the manifesto of the terrorist tranny who killed the children in Tennessee? Why aren’t people being warned of the danger these mentally ill pose to everyone including themselves (40% suicide rate). Time to get back to the REAL science and quit playing in lala land.

  3. The problem with Phil Scott is that he follows the diktat of “non confrontation”….. He’s Mr. White Gloves Pablum politician. He has rarely lifts his voice on anything…save he did JUST ONCE on this GSWA Bill – they over rode his veto. I was shocked he spoke from the heart on GWSA. BUT NOW? Back to same ole’ Pablum Phil….God forbid he supports the majority populous and addresses biological male Trannies winning women’s sports. The last thing Mr. Pablum would do is upset the Trannies…. LGBTQ, dems, socialists, Progressives, Weirdos, Perverts.. etc,,, by signing on with this Title IX letter. Phil Scott has chosen the side to represent…and it ain’t the VT populous! Phil just “wants to be liked”. I don’t see where he does much else ,really. Lately he’s just running around the State ballyhooing crumbs of a few hundred thousand $ from the LAST of the ‘Great Federal Freebie”…..to semi-worthless “feel good” projects that will do nothing much in the long run.

  4. I am sure our governor didn’t think anyone would notice. He is a puppet of the globalist agenda that caters to China. The trans agenda is a United Nations agenda.
