WSJ editor: Dems will end private insurance, force entire market into government hands

By Nick Givas

Wall Street Journal assistant editorial page editor James Freeman said Democrats are beginning to embrace radical health care policies that would eliminate private insurance and turn over all operations to the government.

“The danger is if the Bernie Sanders left actually means it. And you look at the details here, I think they’ve gone very far to the left on health care,” Freeman said on “Fox & Friends” Monday.

“The Bernie plan, which has been endorsed by most House Democrats, is to end Medicare, end all private insurance — all of us going into a new government plan,” he added.

Freeman said the GOP should use this issue on the campaign trail to show how partisan the Democrats’ stance on health care has become.

“This has really not been talked about much on this campaign. I think it should be. The stakes are enormous,” he said.

“It’s not just the 33 trillion over 10 years. New tax burden, basically crowding out all government spending to make room for it — it’s also quality of care. When you look around the world at countries that have embraced socialized medicine, the results are not pretty,” Freeman concluded, adding:

“Long lines, waiting to get operations, this kind of thing. This hasn’t really been discussed though. And I don’t know if it’s because people can’t believe he really means it? But, if you have a large Sanders contingent, a Democratic majority in the House, watch out.”

  1. Vermont Dem/Progs want socialistic healthcare, education and energy.
According to them, the more is done by the government for groups selected by them, the better.
All of it is part of cementing voting blocs and maintaining their hold on power.

Business people are good for nothing, except to be milked for more taxes, fees and surcharges
Upper income folks are good for nothing, except to be milked for more taxes, fees and surcharges

Don’t they realize those folks have options.
They can move out of Vermont

Here is an article about Governor LaPage of Maine
    http://truenorthreports.com/maine-gov-lepage-to-move-to-florida-to-escape-income-and-property-taxes

Any tax, including a carbon tax, passing through the hands of government suffers from “the sticky fingers syndrome”, 2 dollars go in, about 1.5 dollars come out.
The difference stays to feed the growing government bureaucracy.

The key word missing from carbon tax discussions is UNILATERAL

VT’s government imposing on Vermonters a unilateral carbon tax is like shooting them in the feet.
If the carbon tax were nationwide, I would support it.

    The carbon tax would:

    – Impose a $10/ton tax of carbon emitted in 2017, increasing to $100/ton in 2027.
    – Generate about $100 million in state revenue in 2019, about $520 million in 2027.
    – Be added to the fuel prices at gas stations and fuel oil/propane dealers.
    – Drivers should expect a tax increase of 9 c/gal of gasoline in 2018, increasing to about 89 cents in 2027.
    – Homeowners, schools, hospitals, businesses, etc., should expect a tax increase of 58 c/gal of propane and $1.02/gal of heating oil and diesel fuel in 2027.

  2. Don’t forget to vote.
To vote Republican – vote on November 6th.
To vote Democrat – vote on November 8th.

  3. Of course they do as with all other Marxist states the state controls all functions of everyday life,up to and including health care or the lack there of.

  4. Can someone tell me one, yes just one Government Program that is running in the Green
    or Black ??

And the DemocRATs want the Government to run the Health Care system for all, you think
that you pay high premiums now, give the Government one year and we’ll never recover !!

Keep working for the Government, they’ll squander it all.
