Video: Here’s what you missed from the first public impeachment hearing

By Shelby Talcott

Wednesday marked the first public impeachment hearing into President Donald Trump over his phone call with Ukraine, and the House saw much more than just testimony.

U.S. diplomat in Ukraine William B. Taylor Jr. and senior State Department official George P. Kent testified publicly Wednesday surrounding the allegations made by a whistleblower in August that the president had asked Ukraine to look into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

The hearing began with Republicans using their opening statements to probe House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff over whether or not to out the whistleblower. Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan accused Schiff of being the only person in the House to know the identity of the whistleblower, and the congressman replied with his denial.

Republicans also expressed curiosity regarding allegations that Hunter was paid $50,000 a month by a Ukrainian firm. Kent was unable to answer what qualifications made Hunter able to serve on the board and get paid such an amount.

Taylor testified that, to his knowledge, the “Ukrainians were not aware of a hold of assistance” at first. Allegations against the president include that aid was being withheld from Ukraine to get the country to investigate Biden. Jordan jumped on this, asking how there was quid pro quo despite the evidence that Taylor testified about.

“Democrats are pushing impeachment forward without the backing of a single Republican,” Republican House Intelligence Rep. Devin Nunes said as he summed up his view of the impeachment inquiry.

  1. Allegedly withholding aide to Ukraine, Trump leveraged what we now understand to be an investigation into Ukrainian oligarchs who had stolen U.S. money, possibly implicating candidate Joe Biden. According to the phone transcript, the investigation included ‘Crowdstrike’ and the contention that the Mueller investigation may have “…started with Ukraine”.

The impeachment inquiry claims that Trump used the power of his office to specifically target Joe Biden to affect his own re-election, even though the phone transcript references several others, including other U.S. citizens.

Under this logic, any politician, Mr. Welch included, using the power of their office, on a partisan basis, to introduce an impeachment investigation into Trump’s actions and directly affect their own 2020 re-election, should all be impeached – especially given that the current inquiry was initiated by anonymous hearsay testimony and effectively stopped a legitimate investigation into Ukrainian corruption.

  2. I googled “Whistleblower, CIA Agent on Loan to White House” and Eric Ciaramella came up.

    A registered Democrat.
    CIA agent.
    Obama holdover.
    Worked with Biden’s office.
    Has ties to John Brennan.
Was fired in 2017 from White House duties for leaking classified information.
Bypassed “whistleblower” protocols and went directly to Adam Schiff.
Got his “whistleblower information from Vindman, another Obama holdover and deep stater.
This whole fiasco is coming into focus and it look more and more like a Brennan plan B in case Mueller was a dud. Mueller was a dud and now we get this Pelosi/Schiff clown show.

A CIA officer who filed a second-hand whistleblower complaint against President Trump has gotten cold feet about testifying after revelations emerged that he worked with Joe Biden, former CIA Director John Brennan, and a DNC operative who sought dirt on President Trump from officials in Ukraine’s former government.

Ciaramella complained that President Trump abused his office when he asked Ukraine to investigate corruption allegations against Joe Biden and his son Hunter, as well as claims related to pro-Clinton election interference and DNC hacking in 2016.

On Thursday, a top National Security Council official who was present on a July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky testified that he saw nothing illegal about the conversation.

“I want to be clear, I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed,” said Tim Morrison, former NSC Senior Director for European Affairs who was on the July 25 call between the two leaders.

    And now, the partisan whistleblowers have cold feet;

“There is no indication that either of the original whistleblowers will be called to testify or appear before the Senate or House Intelligence committees. There is no further discussion ongoing between the legal team and the committees,” said the Examiner’s source.

The whistleblower is a career CIA officer with expertise in Ukraine policy who served on the White House National Security Council during the Obama administration, when 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was “point man” for Ukraine, and during the early months of the Trump administration. -Washington Examiner

In other words, House Democrats are about to impeach President Trump over a second-hand whistleblower complaint by a partisan CIA officer, and neither he nor his source will actually testify about it (for now…).

On Thursday, the House passed a resolution establishing a framework for Trump impeachment proceedings, belatedly granting Republicans the ability to subpoena witnesses, but only if Schiff and fellow Democrats on the Intelligence Committee agree.

  3. One of many Schiff’s rediculous comments was the one about the President of Ukrain’s stating he was unaware of any aid being withheld pending agreement to help Trump. Schiff’s reaction was the Ukrainian said that only because he feared Trump. How’s that for taking the American folks for fools? Can’t wait for the IG’s and Special Councel’s report to see this whole charade blow up in Nancy’face.

  4. You could have said you missed:
    Schiff for brains = lie
Schiff for brains = deny transparency
Schiff for brains = move the goalpost

but your article would have had a lot of empty space, like schiff for brains cranium.
