Video: Bernie Sanders gets full-throated support from TJ Donovan, Beth Pearce

Prior to delivering his own comments Tuesday at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders received full-throated support from Vermont politicians Attorney General TJ Donovan and State Treasurer Beth Pearce.

“Bernie Sanders will provide the opportunity for a lifetime of financial well-being for every single person in the United States,” Pearce said. “He will make sure that every person has the right to economic justice, social justice, health care, a decent job and livable wage, financial security and retirement, access to education, housing and a clean environment. Bernie Sanders will work to address the issues of climate change. Bernie will work to put an end to discrimination. Bernie will put an end to the vitriol, hate and anger that has undermined our future.”

  1. “Bernie Sanders will provide the opportunity for a lifetime of financial well-being for every single person in the United States,” Pearce said.
Do these people ever stop and think about what they are about to say? I doubt in all of history has everyone ever been equal.

  2. I’m surprised at Pearce’s comments. She is one of the fiscal grownups in the room, trying to fix the pension problem without calling for divestment.

  3. Is T,J, Donovan the next Bernie Sanders? Vermont is going to the dogs the socialist / communist dogs. Time for everyone who can to move out, House going up for sale can’t afford to live here anymore and don’t want to move into the city or have a heat pump – which doesn’t work in our cold- or pay extra for gas, wail till they join the TCI and pass the green new deal. They love to spend our money and we never get to vote on anything to do with the state –just our towns. In a few years only the rich & the very poor will be here with no middle class to pay the bills. They have to pay people to come here now, what are they going to do then?

  4. VT Atty. General T.J. Donovan was on the WVMT morning show explaining his support of Bernie Sanders for president. Donovan believes it is government’s role to “level the playing field” so all people can access the American dream. Sounds great, right? The problem is that is NOT the role of government as laid out by our Constitution. When government levels the playing field, the bureaucracy engineers the winners and losers in the private sector through laws and regulations for the “common good”. This is also a basic tenant of Fascism. The American Dream is built on individual liberty first, the power to conduct our own lives, make our own choices, and win or lose by own efforts. The American Dream has been achieved through a free market system, the most successful pathway to economic freedom, lifting millions of people out of poverty. On the other hand, Socialism, and all such ideologies, have resulted in the deaths of literally millions of people. When the government “levels the playing” field, the results can be lethal – and history is full of examples.

  5. Sounds like they both drank from the same Kool-Aid bowl! Pretty scary these folks are in positions of power. How ’bout Donovan just stick to enforcing the laws of our land and not letting criminals loose. And Pearce – what John Klar said.

  6. I’ve never voted for either but anyone who supports the Burnmeister has told me they will not uphold their oath and will willingly violate the Constitutions and are there fore unfit to hold any office, next would be tyrant.

  7. What have these two been smoking???? If they have listened to Bernie’s diatribe over the years and think he’s the best thing since chopped liver to better our standard of living, they are so brain disadvantaged, they should not be allowed to hold office. Interesting to note that Brtnie when exposed to clear thinking folks in the 14 state primary he didn’t do too well.

  8. Conservative republicans would do well to study the election primary results from this past Tuesday. There is clear disagreement and room for opportunity in Vermont. Bernie only received 50% of the vote!

This is incredibly great news for Vermont. Other earned massive support within the Democratic ticket, we’re NOT all socialists!

    Great news for Vermont!

  9. No public official could more ironically call for economic pie-in-the sky failure than Beth Pearce, who has very doggedly ensured that Vermont’s pension system is one of the most economically deplorable disasters in the entire world. Promises to retirees have expanded while absurd (essentially fraudulent) predictions about future returns on investments were employed to minimize contributions to those workers’ pension plans. This perfidy was augmented by equally dishonest accounting gimmicks like “select-and-ultimate” rates of return, and projected earnings as high as 8.25% on market investments. Pearce’s endorsement of Sanders is as bankrupt as Vermont’s looming pension failure — how much are teachers earning towards their pensions in the current financial markets? And when will Beth Pearce be held accountable for her betrayal of state workers, teachers and taxpayers? Maybe when Bernie gets in… ? These people think they can just print money to promise everyone a life of luxury. But the tab has come due.

    • How can anyone in Beth Pearce’s position of fiscal responsibility support bernie?
He wants to take down “corporation” who are the strength of our state borrowing..
He like Obama will double the nation’s Debt. Bernie does not have a scrap of understanding of the economy, job creation, banking or the proper function of the sucessful
Perhaps Pearce thinks that massive inflation will make debt easier to pay off???

But he does have a “summer Camp” $600,000 worth.
