Trump vows to use military if governors don’t deploy National Guard to stop riots

By Mary Margaret Olohan

President Donald Trump vowed Monday to mobilize all federal resources against those who are rioting, looting, and destructing public property.

The president announced that he is taking “immediate presidential action” to restore both security and safety in America Monday evening at the White House as protesters began filling the streets of the nation’s capital once again.

“I am mobilizing all federal resources, civilian and military to stop the rioting and looting, to end the destruction and arson, and to protect the rights of law-abiding Americans, including your Second Amendment rights.”

“America needs creation, not destruction,” he said. “Cooperation, not contempt, security, not anarchy. Healing the hatred, justice, not chaos. This is our mission, and we will succeed 100%. We will succeed. Our country always wins.”

POTUS said he has strongly recommended that every United States governor deploy the National Guard “in sufficient numbers that we dominate the streets,” warning that if the state or city does not take action, Trump will deploy the United States military and “quickly solve the problem for them.”

The president also called the riots of Sunday night in Washington, D.C. a “total disgrace,” and said that he is dispatching “thousands of heavily armed soldiers, military personnel, and law enforcement officers to stop the rioting, looting, vandalism, assaults, and the wanton destruction of property.”

Washington, D.C.’s curfew will be strictly enforced, the president said, and anyone who threatens innocent life or property “will be arrested, detained, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

POTUS emphasized that all Americans are “rightly sickened and revolted by the brutal death of George Floyd” and that his administration is committed to obtaining justice for both Floyd and his family.

“He will not have died in vain,” the president said.

But Trump also noted that “the destruction of innocent life and the spilling of innocent blood is an offense to humanity and a crime against God.”

“I take these actions today with firm resolve and with a true and passionate love for our country,” POTUS said. “By far our greatest days lie ahead.”

  1. This looks like a step towards impossing martial law. I am still more worried about the uisng of COVID19 as an excuse to expand government and am much more concerned the threat to our liberty possed by this response than I am that posed by a few looters who are taking advantage of our constitutionally protected right to protest.

    • That you are unconcerned by the widespread lack of respect for property — the ‘few looters’ to which you refer — speaks volumes about your own personal disregard for the rules of law and civility. We are, and will continue to be, a nation, a society, of laws. Kudos to President Trump for his efforts to maintain that status.

    • A few looters? What kind of fantasy land do you live in? Try viewing the photographed records of a FEW THOUSAND looters, thugs, punks, and creeps. They are not protesters. They’re thousands of rioters, criminals, thieves, and anarchists, many of who don’t have the faintest idea who George Floyd is or what happened to him in Minneapolis, and if they did, they wouldn’t care. They’re using these constitutionally protected protests to create mayhem, to smash, steal, loot, destroy, burn property and to beat, terrorize and intimidate people. Their actions have destroyed hundreds of family owned businesses and homes, ruined their hopes, dreams and lives, and laid waste to vast swaths of dozens of American cities.

And calling up the United States Military in this instance is not martial law. The deployment of US Military Forces would be necessary only if the Mayors and Governors of the effected cities and states are unable, or unwilling, to restore order. The President’s call up of part of the United States’ Quick Reaction Force, QRF, the 82nd Airborne, from Ft Bragg, NC, would be authorized under provisions of the Insurrection Act of 1807. And the QRF has not been called up yet, just alerted. They’re always ready.

That being said, this is not the first time the 82nd Airborne has been called out. In 1967, President Johnson sent the 82nd Airborne Division AND the 101st Airborne Division to quell race riots in Detroit. In 1992, President Bush sent units of the 7th Army Infantry Division, and the 1st US Marine Division to restore order in Los Angles; the ‘Rodney King’ riots. And there have other smaller deployments. If you’re going to post, try getting your facts straight.

    • Robert has a good point. We need to identify and locate and corral the AntiFa types who do the work of placing pallets of bricks and rocks, Appear at the start at any exxcues, dressed in black, with black backpacks, apparently money, radio communication, bicycles to look for unprotected unpoliced areas to destroy, megaphones, gasoline,
crowbars to smash cars and stores, flash bombs, the whole deal.

Lets find these evil minds and get them very out of circulation. I believe few naturally loot and burn – some hateful, some stupid, But the mob mentality does overtake simple people who are usually peaceful.

Honor the peaceful protesters, and listen to their concerns. Honest news media would also help calm.

Take these organizers the hell out, take them out of business, reveal them for who they are.
