Vermont cows must fart 50% less by 2030, climate council learns

Hill informed the council that 70% of agriculture GHG emissions comes form “enteric fermentation,” which is the politely scientific term for cow burps and gas releases. This, Hill proclaimed, must be reduced by just under 50% by the year 2030.

Climate Council BIPOC-only public hearing cancelled for ‘Zoom security issues’

Tuesday night’s Vermont Climate Council virtual public hearing at which white people were not welcome to join or participate was cancelled at the last minute due to “Zoom security issues,” the Vermont Climate Council director told registrants in an email.

Flemming: Climate activists one-up each other in recommendations to climate council

The event averaged around 100 online participants, presumably from all different parts of Vermont. Of those who spoke, the spectrum of alarm ranged from “we’re all going to die” to “if we spend lots of money, and drastically change how we live, we might be able to survive.”

The Climate Council would be wise to include asking the Legislature to modify the Global Warming Solutions Act to address issues resulting from weather extremes in its recommendations in the Climate Action Plan. The “solutions” cannot be all about technology and buying more stuff.
