With the decision late today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to approve COVID-19 vaccination for children ages 5 to 11, Gov. Phil Scott announced that, starting Nov. 3, parents and caregivers can register their eligible children to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
The world will live with the medical, socio-economic and political catastrophe in COVID-19’s wake for decades. If we never learn what caused it, then we cannot stop it from happening again. But truth became a casualty of opportunism long ago.
Note that the FDA statement does not say that the FDA has approved the BioNTech vaccine for children, but only that the EUA (emergency use authorization) for BioNTech has been extended to children. That this is only EUA is very clear in the FDA statement.
In a 6 to 3 ruling, the high court rejected a complaint filed on behalf of nine health care workers which alleged that the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention is violating federal law by requiring vaccinations for health care workers without allowing a religious exemption.

Governor Phil Scott and the Department of Health today announced that, effective Friday, the State is expanding its Covid-19 booster shot program to include the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
So far this month, eight fully vaccinated Vermonters have died of Covid-19, the Vermont Department of Health reported Wednesday. Nine unvaccinated Vermonters have died. There are no fatalities among the partially vaccinated.

I’ve been saying “vaccines should be mandated.” That phrase, I’m afraid, helps cause resistance to vaccination. What I should have been saying is that vaccines should be required in many cases.
