Vermont AG office fights records request for a year only to say records don’t exist

After a yearlong court battle against a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, the Vermont attorney general’s office says it has no records to turn over relating to a multi-state investigation of groups opposed to climate change policies.

Attorney general’s office defies court-ordered release of documents

Despite a state court ruling last month that the attorney general’s office must release records regarding AGs United for Clean Power, the office has again refused to deliver former Attorney General William Sorrell’s Gmail correspondence with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Vermont Superior Court rules for transparency at attorney general’s office

A Superior Court judge in Vermont has ruled that the Vermont attorney general’s office can’t evade public records requests by creating common interest agreements or doing state business on private email accounts.
