Roll Call: House passes more demanding Act 250 development process

The purpose of S.234 is to promote “smart growth,” affordable housing, healthy forests, working lands, and reorganize oversight of the Act 250 process. The new permitting process adds “undue adverse impact on forest blocks (or) connecting habitat” to the list of reasons an Act 250 permit could be rejected.

Roll Call: House ‘check back’ delays clean heat standard until costs are known

H.715, an act relating to the clean heat standard, passed in the State House of Representatives on May 3, 2022, by a vote of 88-37. It obligates the PUC to design the Clean Heat Standard program, and then check back with the Legislature in 2023 and 2024.

S.287, an act relating to improving student equity by adjusting the school funding formula and providing education quality and funding oversight (Till Amendment), passed in the State House of Representatives on April 28, 2022 by a vote of 132-11.

House passes universal school breakfast plus study committee to include lunches

The House on Tuesday passed a bill on second reading that would initiate a universal school breakfast program as well as a study on potentially including lunches. Estimates for the cost for one year are at least $29 million.

Union representatives will tell workers that they “avoid the risk” by having a pension instead of a defined contribution plan, like a 401k. What Governor Scott and Republicans want is just to give our state employees a choice.
