School choice options expand across U.S. in 2022

More parents overwhelmingly chose school choice in 2022 after expressing frustration with lockdown policies, school boards and mandates. The majority of parents surveyed in a major study said they wanted other options for their children’s education other than the public school districts their children were zoned to attend.

Now it’s up to Arizona Secretary of State Kathy Hobbs to unfreeze the program. She has 20 business days to do so. She’s also the Democratic candidate for governor and her education platform promises “to oppose the universal expansion of school vouchers.”

McClaughry: Michigan school choice expansion

Last year the Michigan Legislature approved two strong school choice bills that established a Michigan Student Opportunity Scholarship (SOS) program. Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer vetoed them, but the state constitution allows the Legislature to override a governor’s veto.
