Students rally across nation and Montpelier to demand gun control laws

A school district in Minnesota is defending a principal who removed a student from public school grounds for holding an unapproved sign that read, “Guns Don’t Kill People, People Kill People” during a nationwide school walkout demonstration against gun rights.

Brattleboro Union High School students demand change on guns

Ohio Program trains teachers in 12 states to carry guns

A 14-year-old boy shot at two other students in the cafeteria of Madison Junior/Senior High School in western Ohio in a nonfatal encounter in February 2016. By that July, the Mad River district’s Board of Education had voted to arm certain trained teachers and staff.

On a good day, law enforcement is 20 minutes away from the Porter Consolidated Schools district and its campus with multiple buildings, McMahan said. For that reason concealed carry permits for highly trained and qualified teachers and staff makes sense.
