GOP women in Vermont, nationwide attack Homeland Security bulletin, immigration failure

On Feb. 7, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a startling bulletin declaring a crackdown on online speech in an apparent effort to prevent domestic terrorism. Vermont officialdom’s response has been, to say the least, muted.

U.S. surgeon general launches investigation of COVID-19 ‘misinformation,’ demands tech companies hand over data

Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy sent a formal request for information Thursday to major tech companies demanding data on “misinformation” related to the COVID-19 vaccine and the virus itself, The New York Times reported.

Letter: Criminal threatening bill threatens Vermonters

Any law that elevates one group of people over another causes division. The fact that these senators have elevated themselves above the people that they are supposed to serve is telling.

Another Vermont conservative speech venue ‘canceled’ – and a new venue found

For at least the second time in six months, opponents of an outspoken conservative have successfully cancelled a speech venue by pressuring hosting organizations. In both cases, the speakers found a different venue and continued speaking.

Roll Call: Senate limits speech by broadening ‘threat’ definition

S.265, an act related to expanding criminal threatening to include threats to third persons, passed the state Senate on February 17, 2022, by a vote of 28-2.

In an ongoing embarrassment for Dartmouth College, the once-venerable institution has repeatedly demonstrated that it is unable — or more likely, ideologically opposed — to allow students the free speech that once breathed air on its “Live Free or Die” campus.

Threats over mask mandate carry three-year prison sentence

A new clause in the Senate ‘criminal threatening’ bill would levy prison sentences of up to three years to store customers who make “true threats” after being asked to wear a mask, the Senate Judiciary Committee learned Thursday.
