How California’s recent move to fight climate change will spike gas prices

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is updating a regulation that will raise gas prices 36 cents a gallon by 2030, and diesel by 44 cents, according to the agency’s staff. Californians already pay an average of $3.73 a gallon for gas.

Promoted as a way to wean Americans off their alleged addiction to oil, both federal and state governments have generous handouts for electric vehicles. Consumers can use up to $7,500 of other peoples’ money to buy an electric vehicle.

EPA paid $14.5 million for foreign nationals, not Americans, to work in government labs

“Allowing foreign nationals to participate in the fellowships is inconsistent with the EPA practice of awarding fellowships to U.S. citizens, which is required for the EPA’s directly awarded fellowships,” OIG reported Wednesday.

Higher renewable energy mandates, however, typically mean higher electricity costs. States with higher-than-average renewable portfolio standards, like Hawaii and Connecticut, also top the list as the most expensive states in terms of electricity prices.
