Vermont ANR issuing big fines to salvage yards

The Agency of Natural Resources has fined two salvage companies in the past two months for failing to keep up with state permitting and environmental regulations. Fines on the small local businesses total just shy of $35,000 in combined penalties.

Lawmakers delay action on consequential wind turbine sound rules

The Legislative Committee on Administrative Rules got an earful from both sides of the wind turbine noise debate at a public hearing Thursday at the Vermont Statehouse, and members postponed making any decision on new decibel rules related to Act 174, the renewable energy siting law passed in 2016.
