Statewide primary election canvass to be held Monday, Aug. 22

The statewide canvass will be held at the Secretary of State’s office, located in Montpelier at 128 State Street. Secretary Condos, along with Chairs or their designees from the three major parties will be certifying vote totals and winners for federal and statewide offices.

Younger Americans identify as independent more than Republicans, Democrats combined

Gallup released survey data Thursday showing that Millennials and Gen Z Americans are sticking with the “Independent” label. In fact, more of the surveyed Millennial and Gen Z Americans identify as Independent than as Republican and Democrat combined.

In the U.S. congressional race, the majority of Republicans wanted to send a conservative woman to Congress. Some 16,000 Republicans voted for a conservative woman, and 10,700 did not. The problem was that Anya and Ericka split the conservative vote too evenly.

I’m of the opinion that anyone who starts his political career with chicanery and manipulation is not worthy of the office he seeks. It appears that Liam Madden entered the Republican primary to be a spoiler.
