Vermonters for Vermont Initiative (V4V) announced today that they will host a public town hall Informational on public schools’ teaching of equity — better known as Critical Race Theory (CRT) — in the the classroom.
Tatiyana Ibrahim, whose child attends one of the schools in the district, criticized the school board for allowing teachers to allegedly promote Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ and anti-police ideologies in the district’s curriculum, video of the school board meeting shows.
As long as kids are forced into one-size-fits-all classrooms and curricula, there will be angry battles tearing communities apart over what that one size is going to be and who it’s going to fit. So, school choice.
Vermont’s education system is revealing its lack of critical thinking skills as it thrusts a toxic, hate-filled, race-based invective onto Vermont’s children. Since educators can’t think critically, parents had better do so.
Critical race theory may be the Democrat left’s filthiest, ugliest big lie. It defines America as inherently and irredeemably bigoted, denounces all whites as racial oppressors, and diminishes all blacks as racially oppressed victims. Lies, lies, lies. The third lie is the worst.
Those voting yes believe low-income children living in rural areas do not have adequate access to medical care, dental care, housing or nutritious food. A lack of any of these can hamper a child’s capacity to learn, making it the obligation of the Legislature to provide them what civil society has not.
The vile, ahistorical teachings of critical race theory should be consigned to the ashbin of history, not taught in schools. Like other forms of Marxism, critical race theory teaches young minds to see the world as divided into two categories: oppressors and their victims.
In three lawsuits currently in process, plaintiff parents ask that public funds follow their children to the school of their choice. The impetus for those suits was the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the landmark case of Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue, announced last June.
More children are likely to have increased access to educational options after state legislators across the U.S. advanced a slew of bills this year expanding school choice, according to several state-by-state surveys. “This is a banner year for the educational choice movement,” Jason Bedrick, director of policy at Ed Choice, said.
We will require all students, faculty, and staff living, learning, or working on campus in the fall to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except for those with an approved medical or religious exemption.
As in many states, this controversial ideology is seeping into Vermont’s curricula. Cady’s case is instructive of the coercive pressure exerted by CRT radicals against those who dare question the hasty implementation of this novel, race-based “theory.”
Randi Weingarten, president of one of the largest teachers’ unions in the country, is set to change course Thursday and call for the full reopening of schools by the fall.
