New Hampshire lawmakers pledge to refund COVID-19 fines

Lawmakers want to absolve New Hampshire businesses that have been cited for violating the state’s COVID-19 restrictions. The House voted 188-169 to approve HB 63, which would reverse citations and fines imposed on businesses under the governor’s executive orders on mask use, social distancing and other restrictions.

Gov. Phil Scott has repeatedly touted his “buy local” initiative during COVID. There are several problems with this seemingly rosy policy. The scheme is a farce, because the money is not allocated to buying local products — just buying products locally.
