Only 30 Vermonters re-infected with symptomatic Covid

About 30 Vermonters who contracted symptomatic Covid-19 symptoms have recovered and then suffered a second bout of symptomatic Covid-19, Health Commissioner Mark Levine said Tuesday. There have been 134 hospitalizations and 59 deaths among the 4,881 cases of vaccine breakthrough this year.

Vax-only strategy not working, time for mask mandate, lawmakers say

Vermont’s vaccination program isn’t enough to stop the pandemic, lawmakers and health care providers said at a press conference Monday evening. Their demand for a new state of emergency and universal mask mandate got the cold shoulder from Gov. Phil Scott on Tuesday.

Vermont schools must stay masked until January 18

Masks will be required in Vermont public schools until Jan. 18 regardless of whether the school has reached 80% vaccination, Agency of Education Secretary Dan French said Tuesday. When school opened in August, mandatory masking was expected to last just a few weeks.

Alabama governor orders state agencies to defy vaccine mandates

“I am adamantly opposed to federal mandates related to the COVID-19 vaccine and adamantly opposed to state mandates related to the COVID-19 vaccine, plain and simple,” Ivey said. “The state of Alabama will not force anyone to take a COVID-19 vaccine.”

The majority of Americans believe the threat of the coronavirus is getting less serious, and a plurality believe President Joe Biden and government health officials like Dr. Anthony Fauci don’t want lockdowns to end, according to a new poll.

NIH admits funding coronaviruses experiment that gained functionality, but refuses to call it ‘gain of function research’

“Because a mouse got sicker doesn’t mean it would make a human sicker,” the NIH spokesperson said. “The mouse study doesn’t tell us anything about human biology except how the viruses interact with the human ACE2 receptor. As you know mice and humans are very different.”

As Vermonters become more interested in and informed about Covid-19 treatment options, many have been asking how people admitted to Vermont hospitals are being treated for the disease.

So far in October, 47% VT Covid fatalities were fully vaccinated

So far this month, eight fully vaccinated Vermonters have died of Covid-19, the Vermont Department of Health reported Wednesday. Nine unvaccinated Vermonters have died. There are no fatalities among the partially vaccinated.

Fully-vaxxed Vermont hospitalizations up 9% last week, non-vaxxed down 2%

Last week, Covid-19 hospitalizations decreased 2 percent among less or non-vaccinated Vermonters, while rising 9 percent among the fully vaccinated, Vermont Department of Health statistics say.

Tom Evslin: We should use the term ‘requirement’ instead of ‘mandate’

I’ve been saying “vaccines should be mandated.” That phrase, I’m afraid, helps cause resistance to vaccination. What I should have been saying is that vaccines should be required in many cases.
