Ontario issued its first gender neutral birth certificate Tuesday, meaning Canadian citizens living in the province of Ontario will now be able to remove gender from their certificate of birth or note whichever gender accords with their chosen identity.

On Friday, Keith Lyman, principal at Brattleboro Area Middle School, lowered the American Flag so Mikaela Simms, the diversity coordinator for the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union, and Diamond Bedward, Kia Adams, and Mya Satchell, eighth-grade students at Brattleboro Area Middle School, could raise the Black Lives Matter flag beneath it.
