Another city declares itself a sanctuary city for the unborn

The ordinance’s passage makes Lebanon the first city in Ohio and the 29th city in the nation to declare itself a Sanctuary City for the Unborn. Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio called the proposed ordinance “blatantly unconstitutional” and “just another political power play.”

Texas passes abortion ban protecting ‘every unborn child with a heartbeat’

Texas’ Heartbeat Act bans abortions after the unborn baby has a heartbeat. By the end of the fourth week of pregnancy, according to the Cleveland Clinic, the unborn baby’s tiny heart tube will beat about 65 times a minute, and the baby’s heartbeat can be detected by about six weeks.

Supreme Court takes up major abortion case directly challenging Roe v. Wade

The United States Supreme court has agreed to take up a major Mississippi abortion case that could directly challenge Roe v. Wade. The court announced Monday that it will hear Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization beginning in October.

Proposal 5 would amend the Vermont Constitution to say that “an individual’s right to personal reproductive autonomy is central to the liberty and dignity to determine one’s own life course and shall not be denied or infringed unless justified by a compelling state interest achieved by the least restrictive means.”

State will withdraw Title X family planning money when fed funding restored

Gov. Phil Scott said last week the state of Vermont will withdraw state family planning funding for Planned Parenthood when the federal government restores its Title X family planning funding to abortion providers.

Fetal personhood bill introduced in Vermont

A bill declaring a fetus a legal person during the third trimester has been introduced into the Vermont House of Representatives. Vermont is only one of 12 states to reject fetal personhood for the purpose of homicide, feticide, or as a victim of other crimes.
