Tax and regulation of legal marijuana, S.54, will get a close look in House Government Operations Committee this week, beginning Tuesday, according to this week’s In Committee report by State House Headliners. Giving local communities equal ability to embrace or reject marijuana dispensaries is expected to be among the topics of discussion.
Gov Ops also will discuss H.444 ranked choice voting, which would let voters select first and second choices in an electoral race (favored by third party and independent candidates); H.509 making Election Day a state holiday; and H.207, the proposed Montpelier charter change to allow non-citizens to vote in municipal elections.
Other bills up for review by House committees this week include H.107 Paid Family Leave, S.23 $15 Minimum Wage, S.86 Raising Legal Tobacco Smoking Age to 21, and S.169 Firearms.
In other legislative news, Rep. Marianna Gamache (R-Swanton) has introduced H.516, to promote technical education in an effort to train young Vermonters to fill the thousands of good-paying job openings that do not require a traditional four-year college degree. Big money is making us a drug dealing state, of course they will pounce on this. There is big money inside Vermont pushing all of this. The citizens do not want us to become drug dealers, the lobbyists do, they are pushing and righting all these bills
H444 and H207 are more ridiculous bills brought up by our liberal legislature. They are both against what Vermont should stand for. H444-there should be no second choice, period. When you vote, you should vote just for the person that you want and not some second person that you don’t care about.
H207- It’s a privilege and a duty of every US citizen to vote. I don’t want a non citizen deciding what I’m going to pay in taxes, and what my rights are and every other decision that is made that will affect me as a tax paying homeowner. The liberals want this for they know that it will increase their tax base for all the free crap that they give out.
We really need to vote these people out for they are ruining every fabric of this once great State.
