MONTPELIER, Vt. — Today Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos issued the following statement commending the Vermont Senate for passing S.15, which will greatly increase access to the ballot box for Vermont voters by mailing ballots to all voters for General Elections.

“S.15 is a monumental step forward for voter access to the ballot box. Here in Vermont, and nationally, vote by mail has been shown to dramatically increase voter participation in the elections process. I am a firm believer that our democracy is stronger when we all participate.

We have a long and consistent track record of increasing ballot access in Vermont. After conducting a highly successful universal ballot mailing to ensure safe voting for the 2020 election during the height of the pandemic, we heard loud and clear that Vermonters embraced voting by mail with their record-shattering voter turnout. This bill will make it easier for eligible Vermont voters to have their voices heard in the electoral process.

I want to thank Senator Jeanette White for her courageous and diligent leadership crafting this important bill and thank Senator Becca Balint for ensuring this critical legislation was made a priority this session. I would also like to thank those who supported this bill in its tri-partisan passage.

S.15 represents the most significant expansion to voter access through vote by mail in Vermont history and greatly increases the options voters have to exercise their Constitutional right to vote. Voting by mail on a large scale has been proven as a safe and secure method of ballot delivery, here in Vermont and nationally.

I am eager to continue discussions on this critical legislation in the House and strongly support its passage so that Vermont can join the five other states that have been doing this for years. I also look forward to ongoing discussions for how we can further expand the vote by mail process to other Vermont elections, growing democracy at all levels in a common-sense, right fit manner that is best for our state.”

  1. The residents of the State of Vermont should demand a hand recount of all ballots from November 3rd.
    NO Excuses!

  2. If people are to inept to ask for a ballot and send it back, then they are probably to inept to know who or what they are voting for anyhow.

  3. When the time arrives that I can no longer vote in person(and that time is coming) I will no longer vote, and my ballot will go in the shredder.

    • Roland, Under this system, for all practical purposes, that’s were your ballot goes already.

  4. Well, since we’ve become, for the most part, another 3rd world s-hole we might as well adopt their method of standing a government, 5 guys and a tank.

  5. I don’t think Jim Condoms could find his arse with either hand even if he was sitting on them. He is not concerned with fraud.

    • He is only concerned about fraud, when he will not be able to promote it. There will be a day when that will happen.

      • Exactly. S.15 codifies most of the chicanery that the dem’s and progs have been promoting as essential for decades. I would think that IRV is next on the list to insure one- party rule for many decades. Condos’ assertions that no voter fraud exists are but fantasy, both in Vermont and nationally…..until he loses an election.

      • James you are absolutely on target and that day is so close. Their efforts are futile with what is coming. Logical thinking – only one reason to change a tried and true system. It will be interesting to see how the Dominion machines weather the storm.

  6. “…S.15 is a monumental step forward for voter access to the ballot box. Here in Vermont, and nationally, vote by mail has been shown to dramatically increase voter participation in the elections process. I am a firm believer that our democracy is stronger when we all participate…”

Yes, we will ALL participate! And if the 2020 national and many state elections are any indication, there are shadowy people out there who will ensure that my cat ‘Fluffy’ and my dog ‘Rover,’ and a long dead uncle of dubious lineage, will also have their votes duly and dramatically counted in the next elections.

Our state senators deserve no praise. S.15 is irresponsibly crafted voter fraud…

  7. Of course the majority of State residents had no idea there was such a Bill being brought up in this most sequestered of legislative sessions. How are we supposed to educate and offer dissent when the voting public at large has no idea of what is on docket? Sickening. We keep being sucker punched…

  8. Just put a stack of ballots on every public counter,
THAT gives everyone a chance to vote!
    Emphatically!

How can Burlington know who is on the voter checklist? Last years graduates, people who left the state over high taxes, and their former address gets a ballot for them and for the new occupant, and that occupants 17 year old..

New voters must show proof of solid occupancy

We have created an unmanageable Monster – to replace responsible Voting!!

  9. It’s just unbelievable that they would put this in place with NO WAY of knowing if the ballot is valid as stated by our Town Clerks. Just unbelievable and irresponsible as well. Voting in Vermont is a JOKE.

  10. If there is no way to verify who actually cast the ballot then citizens should not and will not accept the results!

  11. These people wouldn’t know security if it slapped them in their face…

What security is involved with mail in voting? Please enlighten us all.

    • Brian, Sure they do. Security is a government job for life with no process for accountability allowed.
