Scott and Levine encouraging Vermonters to get COVID booster shot after first two

Montpelier, Vt. — Governor Phil Scott and Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD, are encouraging Vermonters to “Boost Up VT” this holiday season and through the winter by finding a booster clinic near you, including new walk-in opportunities.

Vermont has the highest percentage of people 18 and older with a booster dose, at 42%, according to the CDC.

“I thank Vermonters who have already gotten a booster, but we still have many more who need that higher level of protection,” said Governor Scott. “Setting up clinics at local events will make getting your booster even more convenient, and benefit the community as well.”

Anyone age 18 or older can get a booster shot, as long as it has been six months since your second dose of Pfizer or Moderna, or two months since your Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Your booster shot can be any type of vaccine.

Sixteen and 17-year-olds are also now eligible to receive a booster shot of Pfizer vaccine, following FDA authorization and CDC approval yesterday. They can make an appointment through the Health Department starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 11), or go to a walk-in clinic listed below, as long as it’s been six months since their second dose.

A booster shot is critical to protect yourself and those around you, especially during this time of high community transmission and the coming holidays.

“Getting your booster will guard against severe illness and hospitalization, especially if you are at higher risk, but boosters also benefit everyone,” said Dr. Levine. “During the current Delta surge, you should not consider yourself fully protected until you have gotten your booster.”

Walk-in only booster clinics in December offer all vaccine types. They include:

Dec. 11

  • Orleans Fire Department, 102 Main St, Orleans, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Orange Town Hall Christmas Market, 392 US-302, Orange, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

  1. Listening to Governor Phil Scott’s press conference today I was again struck how willing he is to stand up to the sharp attacks of those in the press who want him to reimpose a state of emergency in order for him to rule by dictate.

In particular was his measured response to what was in effect a diatribe instead of questions by VTDigger reporter Lola Duffort at the end of a over two hour press conference.
Scott did not back down on her attack on his chief of staff Jason Gibbs, but patiently explained his administrations position and how he belived at this point a state wide mask mandate, which could only be imposed by going into a state of emergency, would not be productive.

I would again urge people to listen to these weekly press conferences at noon on Tuesday that are aired on VPR. They are a good example of how an administration can be open as well as responsive to reporters when problems that they feel they can address are brought up and at the same time do not pander to those who simply are attempting to make political points. They are also a main reason why Governor Scott, even in this heavily Democratic and Progressive leaning state with so many on the left out to get him, remains so popular.

    • There are lots of other ways to listen to these press conferences besides vermont partisan radio (vpr). vpr and npr’s ratings are in the tank. If everyone chooses alternative nooze sources maybe they’ll go away for good or change their tune. Vpr used to be decent but fell into the media lie pit in the run up to the 2016 election (like most nooze agencies) and have never ascended out.

  2. Sure, Ill get the jab, right after you and Levine (because we know you got the placebo), all of congress and every illegal immigrant. Ill stick by Fauci’s own words on Cspan Oct 2019, “It will take 10 years or more to manufacture a viable Mrna vaxx, and thats if all things are perfect.” With more dying of the jab and the virus after the jab, I m guessing we missed the perfection mark?

  3. If the first two didn’t work what makes you think a booster will????
at this rate you will need boosters every 3 months to stay compliant with the
covid nazi’s requirements… All the vax does is create more variants and more
“break thru” cases.. at least newest one seems to be waning in it’s severity.. hopefully signaling a return to normal flu season..

  4. You can have my first, second and third shots. Not doing it. Never will. Why are so many non-covid people hospitalized in areas with especially high mrna injection rates? A gap in regular checkups??…..i dont think so. The virus didn’t come from a wet market either, but you assured it did. Public officials have created a lie so big they can’t reveal the truth.

  5. The governor is incapable of changing his stripes. He voted for and promoted this destruction of our nation. Nothing will change in this state until the voters have had enough. I think we are getting there. Anyone who would push this poison into the arms of Vermont’s children should never hold office anywhere. These people will eventually be held to account.

  6. The Colorado Gov has declared an END to covid, why don’t you Gov Scott? 3 shots in less than a year and no progress? We were better off before the vax, our numbers were lower!

  7. Armed with the “data” spewed from Vermont’s executive branch and the Dept. of Health’s fancy website- I’ll stick with Horse De-Wormer, instead of that third marginally effective “Shot”.
Sorry Phil, you need a better plan- and neither the CDC or VT DOH has one.
