Rep. Charles Wilson: The supermajority are headed for a cliff

This commentary is by state Rep. Charles Wilson. He is a resident of Lyndon and the House member for the Caledonia-2 district.

Dear Taxpayer,

Your future financial well being may not be as bright as you might have hoped for. Where legislative solutions are sought, many have moved in to take your future stability as that is the way socialism works.

H.66 — “Paid Family Leave” is an insurance that will be hard to afford. Small business especially will have to collect through the payroll tax, money from their employees to guarantee them twelve weeks pay for family leave. How much more can our struggling small businesses pay?

H.165 — “Universal School Meals” will be added onto already astronomical school budgets and then onto your property tax. Feeding those children who DO need our help is morally right, but to have a huge blanket expenditure for those who DO NOT need this, is just a way to save school administrative paperwork. This bill is a future, permanent, huge tax burden.

H.230 — Suicide is awful. Our hearts go out to families and friends that suffer this horrible loss and we certainly hope there is recovery and help to fill this void in their lives. Those who suffer call for a “gun bill” that they believe, of their opinion, is constitutional, but according to the Supreme Court, is not. A gun bill will do nothing to reduce suicide and only skirts the real issues. Suicides are never the gun’s fault. The high prevalence of this in our society is caused by hopelessness, loss of self-worth, anger, fear, revenge movies, helplessness, trauma from war, and insecurity. To focus on addressing help for people in these areas would do more to curb suicides. Also, a disturbed society breeds troubled youth who lack vision for their futures.

The supermajority of Democrat/Progressive Socialists currently in the State House has established a one-sided rule of power that is truly impossible to stop. Remember with the Democrats in power, they did nothing to stop BLM violence, reduction in police to “defunding,” raised our national debt, caused inflation, ignored our Constitution, which all has changed our national history to justify and establish an elitist rule.

We in the Vermont government took the oath of office “to not knowingly be injurious to the people of Vermont.” The majority in the Legislature has produced un-equitable, injurious tax burdens on our citizens that will not be sustainable to future costs.

Long hours in Committee and on the House floor, with much debate — the ruling parties win long before the vote is taken. The results are always massive tax increases on the low-income seniors and businesses. The supermajority are again, like a herd of buffalo, headed for a cliff, and when they fall, we will see their hearts. And when this happens, at whom will they point the blame?

  1. Montpelier and its gaggle of fools have ” No ” common sense, and especially no concept
of how finance works, Vermont’s debt problems is all due to incompetence !!!

The money well is deep, until it runs dry, wake up people.

  2. “Your future financial well being may not be as bright as you might have hoped for.”

The inserted puppet potato head joe has surely shown us that in a mere two years he’s ruined the economy, world peace, low inflation, ira’s 401’s, food supply, and the price of everything we need to live. The best thing that could happen here is for them all to take a walk off the cliff with their lemming voters who keep them in power. Make Vermont the 70’s again…this time put up a fence to keep the leftist flatlanders out.

  3. As a fiscal conservative, I feel helpless as I feel that I am not represented fairly. Iam on a fixed income, and if my wife wasn’t still working, it would be very difficult financially. “Our representatives” seem lock stepped in the party line. Oh yes Alice Edmonds seemed very concerned, but actions speak louder than words. Where will all the money come from as the legislators make promises that they can’t possibly keep without heaping additional burdens on the taxpayers.

    • It’s too late. The dem-progs have taken over and are working (intentionally or not) to make the state too expensive and restrictive for the traditional, independent working Vermonter.
Perhaps Mr. Wilson could introduce a bill to alleviate the housing shortage by buying the homes of Vermonters who are ready to leave and selling them to more dem-progs from out of state. It could focus on the wealthy (who can afford to live here) and the welfare class (who can afford to live here).
Since the trend is that the legislature distances itself from any adverse impacts of its actions, the inevitable “Affordable Housing Committee” would produce the brochure listing property and other tax rates, general costs of living and doing business information for the other 49 states to “incentivize” Vermonters to leave.
I can’t see any action that this legislature would take to solve our other basic problem, the declining workforce.

      • Allen it’s a population replacement.. it really is.
Perhaps if more people understood what is going on in the big picture..

They want rich people and just enough of the poor worker bees to support their needs and that is it.
The middle class in this is nothing but a problem.
If they get their way, the people that are now middle class actually will need to leave the state to conserve their wealth because to stay there would be to sign on to being driven downward and wind up being one of these poor people!

There is a lot of money to be made off poor people you know.. especially for those in control of them..(exploiting them).
Poor people are needy and easy to control..

So much of what we read here everyday is but a means to this end.

  4. They have succeeded in getting me to move out of the people’s republik of Vermont. I put my house on the market last week. Escaping the liberal madness while I can!

    • Unfortunately, they know that when you leave another moonbat will take your place. They are not concerned in the least. As long as conservative people sit on the sidelines and complain but don’t vote, nothing changes. I’ve been fighting them for years and about to do the same. Let them eat themselves like hungry rats, like Democ-rats!

      • Dano move to NH and help us out.. if we lose NH we’ve lost all of New England and I hate to see that on our watch. We only have a razor thin Republican majority over here and a RINO problem. But yet -we can do this if we can bring in some good people to offset the Masshole invasion.

I need some good Conservatives everyone!
