Poll: Majority of voters blame Dem policies for rising inflation

Inflation has continued to rise in the last year, and new polling shows the majority of Americans blame Democratic policies for the growing problem.

A Morning Consult/POLITICO poll released Wednesday found that 62% of Americans blame Democratic policies, putting even more pressure on President Joe Biden to address the issue heading into the 2022 midterm election cycle.

Even 41% of Democratic voters report that Biden’s policies are the cause of inflation.

The rising costs of goods have become thorn in the side of many Democrats, though the Biden administration has said the inflation will be “transitory.”

“Sixty-two percent of voters blame the Biden administration’s policies for rising inflation, an increase of 3 percentage points from late July, when Morning Consult and Politico last polled on the question,” the survey said. “Slight increases in the shares of Republicans (85 percent) and independents (61 percent) who hold the administration responsible fueled the uptick. About half of voters (48 percent) believe Americans’ return to pre-pandemic behaviors has contributed to the 13-year high in inflation, a 5-point decline from July.”

Inflation means higher prices on all kinds of goods and services for Americans, from electricity to gasoline to food and rent.

Federal economic data has shown inflation steadily rising, with much of that rise taking place during Biden’s term.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis released data earlier this month on personal consumption expenditures (PCE), a leading marker of inflation. Those figures showed the fastest increase in inflation in 30 years.

“The PCE price index for August increased 4.3 percent from one year ago, reflecting increases in both goods and services,” BEA said. “Energy prices increased 24.9 percent and food prices increased 2.8 percent. Excluding food and energy, the PCE price index for August increased 3.6 percent from one year ago.”

International markets are taking notice. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development recently released its global economic analysis and significantly reduced growth predictions for the U.S., from 6.9% to 6% for 2021. In their analysis, one key reason for the downgrade was rising inflation.

“Inflation has risen sharply in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and some emerging-market economies, but remains relatively low in many other advanced economies, particularly in Europe and Asia,” the report said. “G20 consumer price inflation is projected to moderate from 4½ per cent at the end of 2021 to around 3½ per cent by the end of 2022, remaining above the rates seen prior to the pandemic. Supply pressures should fade gradually, wage growth remains moderate and inflation expectations are still anchored, but near-term risks are on the upside.”

Those inflation figures can become political because the federal government helps offset debt spending by printing more money, leading to ongoing inflation.

The rising costs of goods have become thorn in the side of many Democrats, though the Biden administration has said the inflation will be “transitory.”

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., has cited concerns over inflation as a key reason for his refusal to support the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill pushed by the White House.

“Now Democratic congressional leaders propose to pass the largest single spending bill in history with no regard to rising inflation, crippling debt or the inevitability of future crises,” Manchin said in a September opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal.

“Instead of rushing to spend trillions on new government programs and additional stimulus funding, Congress should hit a strategic pause on the budget-reconciliation legislation,” he added. “A pause is warranted because it will provide more clarity on the trajectory of the pandemic, and it will allow us to determine whether inflation is transitory or not.”

  1. The majority of ” sane voters ” blame DemocRATic policies for rising inflation, they need to also
blame them, well ” Illegitimate Joe ” for the border debacle, mandate debacle along with the issue
at the port in California ………pretty pathetic

This administration, has no game plan for anything, including the withdrawal from Afghanistan,
appalling to say the least .

The Unided States is a Constitutional Federal Republic, if you want a Socialist Nation there are
plenty of countries available for the DemoncRATic nonsense !!

  2. Yet, somehow – some way – the mailed ballots will all be returned in favor of and overwhelming for Left/Prog candidates who push the policies that a majority of Americans (even the dead ones!) do not agree or support. I wonder why?

  3. The failing economy is ALL on the puppet regime who in short order has killed off energy independence which has killed off high paying oil jobs and raised the price of oil. Petroleum effects most everything we buy, if not in making it transporting it.
Next the did their best to kill off small business with their illegal chynaCrud flattening the curve mandates.. Now their putting more out of work with more illegal mandates on top of the give awaython stimulus and welfare for illegal southern border invaders and foreign countries .
The reckless drunken spending spree goes on despite having way less tax money coming into the treasury. Now the leftist commies tell us the 3.5 trillion bill will cost nothing…zero… it’s in the bill. (ala you have to read the bill to know what’s in it-bama care) Where is the lame azz media to call out these liars who’ve been getting away with it with their help??? The millionaires ruling over us care little about our plight..or our children’s..

  4. We need a tsunami of votes to sweep the socialist, command/control Dem/Progs out of OUR US CONGRESS.

    ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

We have to be present at every stage, from the printing of ballots to the counting of ballots.
    No more Republican lethargy, inertia.

Nothing done without bi-partisan supervision, especially in Dem/Prog controlled cities.
    No interference with election supervision.
    Video recorders everywhere.
Every ballot must have written Chain of Custody

    • And I’d add in immediate Jail time, without bail, for voter fraud like they illegally are doing for the faux insurrection of the jan6th demonstration for voter fraud… When there’s no repercussion for stuffing ballot boxes it’s only going to continue.. One day voting in person with ID unless disabled or or unable which would require a requested mail in ballot.

  5. I’m listening to President Biden on a CNN Town Hall. It’s 8:30pm, Thursday evening, October 21st, 2021. In response to a question on his support for free community college tuition for all comers, he just declared that, out of the 37 most developed countries in the world, the Unites States ranks 35th in education spending.

In fact, according to the National Center for Education statistics, by virtually every measure, education spending by student, education spending per capita, or education spending as a percentage of GDP, the U.S. ranks at or near the very top in all categories, from Pre-K to Elementary to Secondary and, especially in post-secondary education.

    (Last Updated: May 2021)
“In 2017, the United States spent $14,100 per full-time-equivalent (FTE) student on elementary and secondary education, which was 37 percent higher than the average of Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) member countries of $10,300 (in constant 2019 U.S. dollars). At the postsecondary level, the United States spent $34,500 per FTE student, which was 102 percent higher than the average of OECD countries ($17,100).”

Not surprisingly, even with all of the educators in the room, no one objected to his claim. And neither did Anderson Cooper, the CNN moderator.

Biden also just said FOX News mandated vaccinations for its employees – again, with no pushback by Cooper or the audience. In fact, FOX requires daily testing of unvaccinated employees.

With blatant dishonesty like this being broadcast to the public, is it any surprise that democrats are as misguided as they are.

    • The Dem/Prog elites are dumbing down, deluding, their own people.

Those elites are off the charts nuts, in the eyes of the world.
World leaders are shaking their heads regarding the shenanigans orchestrated in many economic and social areas by Biden’s Socialist gang.

With such elites, the US will slide down the slippery pole of world leadership.

The US will be overrun by uncontrollable hordes of people from all over the world, who will roam at will, and out of control, terrorizing, as does the MAFIA in Mexico.

It would be ROME all over again

Gun sales will be off the charts.

      • Perhaps. After all, no one ever said that having the liberty and freedom to choose our destiny guarantees success. At the very least, we’ll learn from this experience, as we have in the past, and correct our mistakes until, yet again, complacency raises its ugly head. But those of us who understand this have the advantage. Not only does a rising tide lift all boats, a falling tide lowers them. Just be sure your boat doesn’t leak.
