Study: States’ prosperity improves over past decade, but some do much better than others

A new United States Prosperity Index (USPI) indicates that prosperity has increased nationwide over the past 10 years with the gap narrowing between the most and least prosperous states. Despite this, five of the top 10 states are in the Northeast; nine of the bottom 10 are in the South.

Attorney general’s Hate-Free Vermont forum stirs up racial divides

Last week Vermont Attorney General T.J. Donovan hosted a public forum for the Rutland community on issues of “hate” and racism in the Green Mountain State. It was part of Donovan’s new statewide series that included more than 70 city officials, police officers and residents.

Suppressing testosterone levels in male athletes isn’t enough to eliminate their natural advantages over female athletes, according to a recently published paper in the Journal of Medical Ethics. The paper’s findings contradict congressional Democrats.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s proposed rule, published in the Federal Register Tuesday, would close food stamp eligibility loopholes and standardize broad-based eligibility guidelines. Closing up loopholes will save taxpayers $2.5 billion every year, the USDA says.
