Roll Call: How your senator voted on $2,500 fine for unauthorized construction projects over $2,500

H.157 passed in the state Senate on June 24, 2021, by a vote of 21-9. The purpose of the bill is to mandate that construction contractors register with the state and conform to certain regulatory requirements in order to legally do business on residential homes in Vermont.

The new paid family and medical leave program will allow workers whose businesses participate in the voluntary program to get paid at least 60% of their regular wages for up to six weeks if they take time off for personal health or family reasons.

Trying to use more gas than you have makes no sense on a road trip. But, replace the gas with money, and you have the U.S. government right now. Think of it this way: Our tax revenue should be enough “gas” to fund the necessary expenses for the government. But, Washington is spending. A lot. More than we ever have.

Vaccine heart reaction problems, court fines anti-mask store owner, federal money for COVID-related stress

COVID vaccines may be causing heart inflammation, the governor saw his vetoes overturned regarding noncitizen voting in local elections, and a court determined that mask mandates may have been of questionable legal authority – yet still issued an $850 fine.

Flemming: More money, more problems for Vermont counties

Unless the U.S. Treasury makes the rules more flexible and allows town employees to make important funding decisions which county employees are making in other states, Vermont will be at a severe disadvantage relative to other states in regard to how it spends the county ARPA money.
