Vermont is one of only 22 states that scored above 80 on a scale of 100 in Truth in Accounting’s (TIA) latest report on financial transparency. However, the state received two out of 10 points in the category that measures the timing of pension liability reports compared to the state’s annual report.

Did Common Core standards contribute to slide in eighth grade math scores?

An alternative and worrisome correlation is the introduction of Common Core Standards. Released in 2010 and implemented between 2013 and 2015, Common Core Standards are a collection of curriculum and teacher standards, including a national list of topics students should learn in each grade.
