Gov. Phil Scott delivers 2022 budget address

John Klar: COVID discrimination similar to AIDS discrimination — and both are wrong

If vaccines work, vaccinated people have no more reason to fear unvaccinated people than heterosexuals needed to fear AIDS from infected gays in the 1980s. If vaccines don’t work, then vaccinated people are as equally able as the unvaccinated to spread the disease.

Eric Davis: No-guns-in-hospitals bill amended to close the so-called Charleston loophole

A “strike-all” amendment was proposed by Rep. Will Notte, D-Rutland, which made several additions to the bill, most notably, the addition of language amending the NCIS background check process to close the “Charleston Loophole” — a long time staple in the wish list of groups like Gun Sense.

VISA update: Special ed services at independent schools may be postponed, bill seeks to block tax dollars to some religious schools

The requirement that special education services be provided at all approved independent schools accepting public funds may be postponed once again. Also, S.219 would prohibit tuitioning to any school not in compliance with federal and State antidiscrimination laws.

About a dozen speakers including doctors, lawyers and pastors shared a stage Saturday at Ignite Church to discuss the populist pushback against COVID-related mandates, such as forced vaccination and continued public masking in some communities.

United Van Lines report: Americans continue moving, mostly out of higher-tax states

Vermont saw the largest percentage of inbound moves compared to outbound, with 74% of movers moving in. New Jersey saw the largest percentage of residents leaving the state, at 71%. New Jersey has been the top outbound state for four consecutive years, according to the report.
