Campaign for Vermont: Legislature chooses incremental progress over sweeping reform

The legislature overrode Governor Scott’s veto of the pension bill unanimously. Bills moving forward include housing and workforce development, economic development, and student weighting. Universal school meals were also approved by the Senate this week.

Consumers set to get crushed as energy utilities switch to solar, wind

The transition to renewables will lead to higher costs for utilities which will then be passed onto consumers in the form of price hikes. Energy costs will remain elevated in the future as providers build out renewable infrastructure and electricity demand skyrockets.

Lawmakers in eleven states are considering bills that would limit school lessons on sex and gender for certain age groups, restrict books with sexual themes, require sex education to emphasize biological sex rather than gender identity and crack down on gender and sexuality-related trainings for children.

New Jersey kids could be taught puberty blockers and frequent masturbation are good

Elementary aged children in the state’s public schools could be taught that puberty blockers are a good way to “manage” adolescence and masturbation “a few times a day” can help “relieve stress,” according to state sample lesson plans.
