“Depending on what source you look at, Vermont is one of the top few most heavily taxed states in the country. This will add significantly to that burden. Child care is not the state’s business and we should stay out of it at all cost.”
The Department of Environmental Conservation has earmarked $3.6 million in American Rescue Plan Act dollars, Gov. Phil Scott said, for municipalities with projects designed to upgrade wastewater pretreatment infrastructure and capacity.

“The rules would require an incredibly rapid EV transition that industry, the grid, and consumer demand cannot keep pace with,” U.S. Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, who chairs the subcommittee, said during the hearing. “Further, the critical mineral supply chain is already under stress.”

Republican Gov. Phil Scott used the opening remarks at his weekly presser to remind Vermonters of his policies focused on affordability and economic growth, and to warn of a coming showdown with state lawmakers over the budget.
“The committee will diligently review all relevant evidence, interview witnesses, and carefully assess the allegations against Sheriff Grismore and State’s Attorney Lavoie,” House Speaker Jill Krowinski said in a statement.
“The bad news is they spent a lot more money than I proposed and relied on regressive taxes and fees to fund the added spending, which I believe is unsustainable given the economic uncertainty ahead of us.”
