Vermont Right to Life: Unrestricted abortion for all nine months of pregnancy remains legal in Vermont

Today’s U.S. Supreme Court decision changes the legality of abortion in our state. Passage of H. 57, now Act 47, is clear statutory protection of unlimited and unregulated abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

U.S. Senate candidate Gerald Malloy praises Supreme Court’s overturn of Roe v. Wade

With the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, they acknowledge that abortion is not a constitutionally-protected right. The issue will now be decided by the people and the elected officials in their respective states.

U.S. Supreme Court strikes down New York concealed carry restrictions

Proper cause to carry concealed is a common requirement of state or local jurisdictions if you need to apply for permission to exercise that right, but the U.S. Supreme Court just declared it unconstitutional. The case is New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen.

VISA update: Supreme Court rules in favor of public funds to religious schools

This Supreme Court ruling is directly applicable to Vermont. Vermont’s tuition assistance program is very similar to Maine’s. Vermont will have to consider how to reconcile the Carson v. Makin opinion with the Compelled Support Clause in the Vermont Constitution.
