‘Ferguson Effect?’ Police arrests have plummeted across the country but little agreement on why

Poll: 3 out of 4 middle class families are falling behind as prices rise

Primerica released the report, which found that 75% of middle-income families “say their income is falling behind the cost of living,” an eight-point rise since March. The poll found only 16% of those surveyed think they will be better off financially in a year.

State Police Advisory Commission releases synopsis of misconduct investigations involving Vermont State Police troopers

Nineteen matters came before SPAC from July 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2021. Six of the incidents involved multiple troopers or multiple reports related to the same trooper. Of the 19 cases, 18 came to the attention of supervisors due to internal reporting by members of the state police.

Call for conservation! Vermonters to reduce electricity use Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Avoid running major appliances like the dishwasher or clothing dryer. Use a toaster oven instead of an electric oven or grill outside. If you have an air conditioner or heat pump, set it 2-3° warmer. If you have an electric water heater, save your shower and laundry for later. Turn the lights off when you’re not in the room.
