Horses are out of the barn: Fauci tells Texans and and Mississippians to continue masking despite governors’ orders

By Mary Rose Corkery

Dr. Anthony Fauci urged the people of Texas and Mississippi on Thursday to continue wearing masks despite their governors lifting state mask orders.

“You know my strong advice to them, Joe, would be to actually continue to implement the public health measures. Now is not the time to pull back. The good news is that we have vaccines coming online,” Fauci said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that the state’s businesses can return to full operation next Wednesday and Texans won’t be required to wear masks in public, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Republican Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves tweeted that Mississippi’s businesses can also start fully operating on Wednesday and that the state is “lifting all our county mask mandates.”

President Joe Biden and White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki criticized the governors on Wednesday and claimed the state leaders were ignoring “the science.”

“You see the curve of the infections per day coming down. But over the last seven days or so we have reached a bit of plateau where the deflection isn’t going straight down the way it was. That’s a bad sign. We’ve seen that before,” Fauci said.

Fauci said they saw the same pattern happen over the summer when politicians were attempting to open both the economy and the country while urging obedience to various health guidelines.

“And as you know there was variable adherence to the guidelines. And then we had that really big surge that we don’t want to repeat now,” Fauci said. “I mean, we’re going in the right direction. Now is the time to keep the foot on the accelerator and not pull off because the thing that we don’t want is yet again another surge.”

Fauci advised Texans and Mississippi residents to obey “the public health measures” and urged them to wear masks, social distance, keep away from gatherings, especially gatherings held inside.

  1. New study out by CDC: masks and capacity limits on restaurants save lives. https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7010e3.htm?s_cid=mm7010e3_w

Is this really the “least harm” strategy? Are there no other options that would help prevent the spread of Covid-19 and at the same time dispense with the harms to livelihoods and liberties that the CDC’s stance requires?

Yes, there are other options. Those options are being censored. Current policy is apparently to do as much harm as possible and to have minimal regard for liberties.

    • Nothing to do but carpetbomb TNR with spammed sh*tposts Mr Freitag…may I suggest you check your wood pile or submit another one of your scintilating op-eds to Vtdigger or perhaps VPR listeners would be fascinated with the intellect displayed here on TNR – both allow comments which I’m sure would appreciate your offerings 😀

  2. Fauci my name for him is CSLB…
He doesn’t even believe in what he is saying. He thinking he’s a GOD because the left hangs on to his words. Remember him with friends at a ball game. his mask was under his chin, he sat right next to his friends laughing his butt off… The RINO Gov in our state had CSLB on Zoom on TV hanging on every word that came out of the evil little weasel mouth. Too bad Floppy Scott can’t think for himself. and be a governor.

I have not worn a mask at all when I go to the Dr they said you have to wear a mask, no I DON’T and turn around and walk out. I do the same at stores too. The only place that acts as a dictatorship is Costco. I don’t need their stuff and guess they don’t want my business.

We as Americans /humans have a brain a mind. We can think for ourselves. What is going on in this country now is a dictatorship by the left and the RINOs on the right. What is happening is CONTROL. They are already banning books, changing our history, telling us that we need to be less white. I’m proud of being white. I’m Irish, Scotch and Native American with a little bit of French thrown in there too. So I am American. when asked what nationality I am I just tell them I am American and proud of it.
What we need to do it stop this CONTROLLING DEAL that’s going on.. use your own mind. If you want to wear a mask then do it. but if you don’t want to don’t wear one. Don’t let fear take over your life. The biggest threat to us is fear….Look what this so-called lockdown is doing to our children and seniors.. depression big time.. our children shouldn’t be depressed they should be children, to grow up in a normal world to be able to play games and play with their friends and see their GRANDPARENTS !!!!

  3. This evil elf has spent all his credibility. Have Americans forgotten the fable of the Boy Who Cried Wolf?

  4. I have renamed Fauci to AKA Jim Jones. He wants everyone to drink the Cool-aid or take the Jim Jones vaccine on his say so.
    NOT! WashDc is now Jonestown.

God gave us a brain so use it.

  5. Exclusive — Sources: Alabama to Join Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Others in Eliminating Mask Mandates this Week by Matthew Boyle and Kyle Morris
    3 Mar 2021Washington, DC5,800
“One of the sources familiar with Alabama’s forthcoming decision told Breitbart News that Biden attacking the people of Texas and Mississippi is playing a huge role in Alabama’s move to nuke the mask mandate. In other words, this person said, Biden’s attacks on American citizens are backfiring as more and more responsible government leaders across the country reject his authority and are moving away from his recommendations as he shows disdain for Americans from states that did not vote for him for president.”

  6. This guy needs to take a long walk off a short cliff. I’m so tired of listening to his relentless rhetoric when all he cares about is keeping his face on TV. I had the virus nearly a year ago and I’ve had to wear a mask for no reason all year and it has damaged my skin. No one is telling people they can’t wear a mask and with so many having had the virus and many getting vaccinated what are so many still afraid of. Oh, right! The variants that might be worse than the original when for most the original wasn’t bad. My husband and I had it and we were both 73 when we had it. He had the pneumonia and by the time he felt he needed to consult a doctor he was nearly over it himself. I and my two sons and daughter-in-law had sinus infections. All of us lost our taste and smell but we were over everything in about two weeks. Too many have actually been enjoying being part of the efforts “for the greater good”, the “we’re all in this together” bandwagon and really don’t want to go back to normal. Fine, let them wear masks and distance, but for most of us it unnecessary and ridiculous.

  7. Fauci has proved over and over again to not know what he is doing………..he just panders to the leftists when they bark at him. Zero credibility at this time.

  8. What about ivermectin, Dr. Fauci? You want to save lives? You want to get us out of this as soon as possible? Or do you just want us to obey the authorities and ignore the real science, as you’re so keen on doing?

Texas and Mississippi are spot on: let the people decide.

Dr. Fauci is on the same page as Great Reset architect Klaus Schwab: we’re never going back to normal. New variants and then what? A new lab escape in 2021 or 2022 of a gain-of-function pathogen, from one of several labs doing this type of research? What a surprise.

Ivermectin works against many viruses and variants. Maybe that’s why they’re so keen that this drug doesn’t get public acceptance. You can’t control people if they’re not afraid.
