Governor Greg Abbott lifts mask mandate, opens Texas 100 percent

Governor Greg Abbott today issued an executive order lifting the mask mandate in Texas and increasing capacity of all businesses and facilities in the state to 100 percent. He made the announcement at Montelongo’s Mexican Restaurant in Lubbock.

“With the medical advancements of vaccines and antibody therapeutic drugs, Texas now has the tools to protect Texans from the virus,” said Governor Abbott. “We must now do more to restore livelihoods and normalcy for Texans by opening Texas 100 percent. Make no mistake, COVID-19 has not disappeared, but it is clear from the recoveries, vaccinations, reduced hospitalizations, and safe practices that Texans are using that state mandates are no longer needed. Today’s announcement does not abandon safe practices that Texans have mastered over the past year. Instead, it is a reminder that each person has a role to play in their own personal safety and the safety of others. With this executive order, we are ensuring that all businesses and families in Texas have the freedom to determine their own destiny.”

  2. More news on ivermectin: the British Ivermectin Recommendation Development (BIRD) report says this, after reviewing all the evidence: “The British Ivermectin Recommendation Development panel recommends ivermectin for the prevention and treatment of covid-19 to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with covid-19 infection and to prevent covid-19 infection among those at higher risk. ”

I’m taking this study as well as the FLCCC work to my doctor when I ask for a prescription for ivermectin.

    • Protest much sir. Fell into own trap Mr Freitag – prima facie much lol – machinations say it all. Like the child who thinks the chocolate on face isn’t visible to queries of who ate all the cookies – can be read like a roadmap.
Includes tacit admission channeling OJ “If I did it” Simpson:

Yeah I agree you are what you are and would have been banned from any other comment platform by now. Not enough to sabotage discussions with in-your-face contrarianism and false information – need ‘friends’ to prop the deception.

But it does make a difference when an account is created solely to inflate influence, magnify message and create friend(s) to chat with complete with sycophantic alter ego posing as a conservative as the real conservatives have harshly called you out necessitating a fig leaf to cover obvious naked attempt to deceive TNR and community.

The Wall of Text style in discussions between you and sockpuppet exemplified by both duplicating large acreage style you all use to derail threads with your oh-so obvious fake’discussions’ – comment style is mirrored by “Jim” account.

As to your fake challenge – there are IP addresses, server and geolocations, fingerprinting of and unique device characteristics which yield a lot of information.

I do not need to contact anyone – all one needs to do is give a name any name and an email to comment. So your ‘proof’ is a joke.

Don’t worry about what ppl think of me – I don’t lol

      • I can take a hint from the fact that NO ONE is backing up your wild suspicions that it’s best to ignore your rantings.

        • No rantings Mr Freitag – just the facts. And – no one is backing you up? Could it be we normal busy ppl have better things to do than attend to silly games. Reveal self as very lonely with need to create a world all your own using TNR platform as there are no positive interactions with known conservative commenters – just unknowns who either don’t know what others have come to recognize or more sockpuppets created for ‘discussions’.

As a reminder Vtdigger has a facebook page to comment to…looks like VPR also unless you just wish to antagonize those who disagree with your flawed worldview?

  3. Embracing the state secession movement: ‘Make America small again’
It would acknowledge America’s divisions and could result in happier, less corrupt entities

Personally would like to see Red-state secession so that we the constitutionalist conservatives have a place to live far away from the madding crowd of Diabolical Democrat Marxist Party. Plus – Texas could split into five states and fill the house and senate hopefully with Republicans. Plus a Red-state alliance as trading partners.

  5. In Vermont, COVID is mostly a ghost.
    Vermonters are not great socializers
    They keep to themselves
When there is a flu epidemic in some clusters in some states, Vermonters read about it in the papers.
By building COVID into a scary ghost, the federal government spreads MONEY to do what?
COVID money is good to protect government programs.
Or election folks take advantage of it by instituting universal mail-in voting
President Carter said it is an easy way to have widespread election fraud. Gee, it that true?
In Vermont, the plan is to buy electric school buses, at $350,000 each, plus infrastructure, from Canada with COVID money
That indicates COVID definitely is a second or third priority.
So why are we still required to wear masks?
The da…d mask keeps slipping off my nose, when I talk to myself.
I guess we will have to suffer a few months longer, or may be the rest of the year, if we are lucky.

  6. How sad. Here we are with the finish line in sight and yet there are those who chose to ignore the advice of experts and the reality that we are still at a high level of infection and more transmissible variants of the virus are spreading.

“This is not a time to relax restrictions — especially governors who are all high -fiving themselves saying we’re out of this. We’re not,” said Dr. Peter Hotez, co-director of the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital.

” The country is at risk of losing the hard-earned ground we have gained in the battle against Covid-19 as highly contagious variants take advantage of Americans getting lax with safety measures”, said Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday.

Governor Scott, while taking criticism from all sides, has been calm and clear on dealing with the pandemic and trying to balance competing needs in an incredibly difficult situation. His twice a week press briefings have kept Vermonters informed and provided encouragement and hope. While as tired as anybody with this pandemic, I am proud and pleased to have such practical and competent leadership in our state.

    • Tyranny.

The advice of “experts” indeed. Like traitor Fauci?

      Let the people decide.

Tyranny is tyranny, and medical tyranny is just lipstick on a pig.

It’s an extremely dangerous precedent when we let supposed medical necessity take our freedoms and dump them in the trashcan. Hitler knew all about “medical necessity,” too. What was the entire justification for the Third Reich? Medical necessity: we had to do it to save the people. Books have been written about this. Doctors–the “experts”– were in on the game, too, and did a lot more than just stand and decide who would live to work in slave camps and who would go to the gas chamber straight away.

I’m sick and tired of cowards and tyrants talking about medical necessity. How to rule people: scare them forever with medical necessity. Like Klaus Schwab said, it’ll never end. He came right out and said it. What in God’s name is it with these Germans? He and his followers can shove it where the sun don’t shine.

    • Where’s the ‘finish line’ you speak of John? This year? Next year? It keeps moving, depending on which ‘expert’ is asked.

When, in the entire history of our country, have we chosen to isolate the healthy to protect the vulnerable? That’s hardly a recipe for success.

      • Dan,
Current projections is all Americans will have access to vaccine by the end of May. This would be considered a finish line.

        Roland,
Unfortunately the sky has fallen in on over half a million dead Americans from the pandemic. If there is a silver lining unlike the last pandemic that struck mostly the young this one has concentrated on the old.

        Jim,
Phil Scott is not Hitler. Fauci is not a traitor. Both are trying to do the best jobs they can with the information and means they have at the time. It should also be noted that during the last pandemic around a 100 years ago, the Governor of Vermont suspended people’s right to gather including at church services in order to help contain the spread of the disease. Once the pandemic was over these restrictions were removed, as they will be again in our time.

Covid-19 is a disease and needs to be treated as such. No question that politicians on both sides of the aisle have tried to use the pandemic to their advantage. We should be grateful and proud that in Phil Scott we have a Governor who has not.

        • John, show me the year that no one dies from anything and then, you may have a point. To endlessly spout off about 500,000 dead from COVID is misleading, From the CDC’s own data, less than 6% of the “COVID” deaths were from COVID. The overwhelming majority of the deaths were due to other causes, and the population that died had “significant and multiple comorbidities.” Also, with an average age of 80 for the deceased, we’re dealing with a huge number of people who were old, sick and dying. They happened to die while infected with the China Flu, but did not necessarily die because of the China Flu. This is how the numbers get inflated.

Meanwhile, nowhere do lockdowns work, the only evidence for them being models, which only say what they’re told to say. direct observations show lockdowns do massive harm. Look at our economy, look at the increase in suicides, overdoses, and domestic violence that gets broomed from the news.

The China Flu will always be with us, just like many other bugs. It will mutate just like the flu does every year. However, perpetual panic to this is insane.

If what you’re espousing is true, then the people of Florida, Iowa, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, and now Texas & Mississippi should be dropping dead like flies. However, that is not happening. So who are you going to believe, Phil “Suicide” Scott, or your lying eyes.

        • John,

You fail to see what a slippery slope all of this is. It’s a huge failing in our interpretation of the Constitution that we’ve allowed police powers to stand behind medical dictates. There are no effective checks on this power. Look at Buck v Bell, 1927: according to the Supreme Court, forced sterilization is OK.

Give the people information and let them decide. Yes, that’s an evil, but it’s far outweighed by the evil of government power to force medical treatment. We know this: it’s not speculation, we saw what happened.

We had the solution to Covid-19 with hydroxychloroquine and vitamin D and focused protection. Fauci and the NIH– and even the medical journals– actively worked against these, with the possible exception of vitamin D. Why? Was it a perfect solution? No. But it was the path of least harm, and it was the path that would’ve preserved the liberty that we seem so willing to give up. The experts recommending this path were censored.

The NIH is outright lying to us now regarding ivermectin: doses needed for effective treatment of Covid-19 aren’t 100x greater than recommended doses. This is a blatant, bold-faced lie that’s easily refuted through randomized controlled trials that have already been done.

Fauci is a traitor. He has fostered fear and actively worked to block solutions that would’ve benefited all Americans in the fight against Covid-19. He goes back and forth on his advice and tells us that we’ll be wearing masks and social distancing for another year, even with vaccines. He’s like a puppet of Schwab, getting us used to “this will never end.”

Gain-of-function research is going on throughout the world: this research is to enhance pathogenicity of viruses like the coronavirus, and is exactly the type of research Fauci’s NIAID sponsored at Wuhan. Regardless of how Covid-19 originated, how long before the next novel pathogen sends us back into our “new normal”? This research has to stop.

        • For once, you’re right, Freitag. Scott isn’t Hitler. He’s Chairman Mao. Or Stalin.

      • John/Jim didja know you can comment to Vtdigger FB page? Thot you may be happier with your fellow leftists unless you’re only reason for commenting to TNR is bc they don’t allow comments? Contrarian attacks on conservatives an insult sir. Obviously goes for anyone else who doesn’t appreciate the conservative fare – TYMLTK
        https://m.facebook.com/vtdigger/posts

      • I’m ambivalent about our Governor. He’s a good man who’s gotten bad advice, and I believe he was wrong to impose so many restrictions for so long. I am not ambivalent about Fauci.

          • Try being civil? You continue to make false accusations against me when I have absolutely no relationship with Mr. Freitag, except that I agree that he has every right to express his opinions and I often disagree with them.

Is TNR stardust central, where no other opinions are tolerated? Is that what this is about?

          • Am civily calling you out Mr Freitag – for rank hypocricy and diabolical deceptiveness as well as misusing TNR for your silly games – activity reveals much about psyche. What you’re not getting is that behavior is easy to detect and got old quick decades ago with flame wars of ’90s -can be read like a roadmap sir.

“Jim” was created as sleeper making innocuous comments until activating ‘him’ using friendly chats agreeing/disagreeing and using to heap praise on self – classic! Not the only one pulling this simply the most prolific.

When I called you out stated your sockpuppet comments were very similar. Suddenly “Jim” is Red-pilled and becomes your ‘conservative’ alter-ego.

Also used to ‘buffer’ your comments so that replies are driven down the page however not alone on that one either.

          • Wow! You really have it all figured out. Caught us! You might just try asking TNR if our emails match? As I once wrote a commentary here, TNR knows who I am and where I live. Go ask– unless you believe they’re in on the deception?

          • Not sure how to address the nutty theories of this person named Stardust. Suffice to say, I am a real person who only uses my real name. I have always had the ability to speak for myself without the need for games or hiding who I am. While I have both questions and opinions, I also appreciate hearing the different takes of an issue from a limited government perspective that focuses on individual liberty and responsibility in our lives and society. These I believe are shared values of those who write for and comment on this site.

I do not think anybody takes this person Stardust seriously, but if you have any doubts, I would urge you to contact the editors of this site. I would also be willing to offer this challenge. Never to post again on this site if Stardust is correct that I am posting under multiple names as long as Stardust agrees never to post again on this site if she is wrong in her accusations.
If Stardust does not chose to take this challenge then the next best thing is for her to simply move on and concentrate on addressing issues instead of attacking other people with false charges.

          • Amen, John.

As I’ve stated, TNR knows who I am. I’m not John. I don’t know John, have never met him, never corresponded with him, never coordinated with him.

Stardust, take a chill pill and don’t be so quick to spin these stories. Even if what you say is true– and it isn’t– it simply makes no difference to what’s printed on the page. Take it for what it is.

          • I don’t think there’s a single soul who believes anything you’ve said concerning you theory about John/Jim. If so, speak up, folks. Let’s hear it.

          • But it does make a difference when an account is created solely to inflate influence, magnify message and create friend(s) to chat with complete with sycophantic alter ego posing as a conservative as the real conservatives have harshly called you out necessitating a fig leaf to cover obvious naked attempt to deceive TNR and community.

  7. That is because Texas’ and Mississippi’s Governors, unlike our governor, have a brain.

  8. Scotty could learn something from Texas, if he would take the cotton batts out of his hears and plug his pie hole.

  9. Montpelier… from the top down needs to be swept clean and then fumigated to eliminate any lingering covid 19.

  10. Mississippi just followed Texas – effective tomorrow everything opens up.

Won’t hold my breath waiting for Scott to do the right thing.

      • Tom,

Oh no, you are too generous.
        The handlers tell Biden nothing.
        The handlers set up teleprompters.
Biden is like a Pavlov dog
He sees teleprompters and he automatically starts reading and talking at the same time.
Sometimes he gets lost doing it.
He likely has no idea how these words got there.

        • Right Willem, have seen him just standing at a podium apparently when the teleprompter came to an ending. His wife had to escort him off the stage. Scott doesn’t have many (if any) public discussions. Spew orders from behind walls (or from a cave, or basement-hint Biden).

          PS. Enjoy your posts immensely.

        • There are two main methods used when making an argument. One is to address the message with a counter argument that is stronger by both showing flaws in what the other is saying and showing a better alternative.
The other method is to attack the person making the argument.

Often while it may be more pleasurable and satisfying to make fun of someone, (and those opposing Donald Trump are probably the most guilty of any of this) making a strong convincing argument of another view is, while more work, far better for the tenor and health of our Republic.
