Google and YouTube will demonetize content denying ‘scientific consensus’ on climate change

By Ailan Evans

Google and YouTube announced a new policy Thursday demonetizing all content that denies the scientific consensus on climate change.

Google will no longer allow ads for “content that contradicts well-established scientific consensus around the existence and causes of climate change,” the company announced in a support page added to its website Thursday. The policy, which Google will start enforcing next month, covers YouTube videos and websites that treat climate change as a “hoax or a scam,” content “denying that long-term trends show the global climate is warming” and content “denying that greenhouse gas emissions or human activity contribute to climate change.”

The search giant said it was implementing the policy due to pressure from advertisers, who didn’t want their products associated with content promoting climate denial.

“Advertisers simply don’t want their ads to appear next to this content,” the company said. “And publishers and creators don’t want ads promoting these claims to appear on their pages or videos.”

Google did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s questions concerning the scope of the new policy.

The tech giant said it formulated the policy after consultation with “authoritative sources on the topic of climate science including experts who have contributed to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.” Google said it will employ algorithms and human moderators to detect and demonetize content that goes against the scientific consensus on climate change.

The announcement follows the unveiling of a new YouTube policy last week to remove content that denies the safety and efficacy of vaccines approved by the World Health Organization.

Google announced a series of climate initiatives Wednesday designed to offer consumers more “sustainable” choices, including adding panels in climate-related search results featuring information on climate change provided by the United Nations.

  1. So Google a single company that uses enough electricity to put it in the top 90 countries in the world as of 2020 and is expected to double or triple in just 3 years, is telling us we’re only allowed to post their approved climate change policies.

    Isn’t that convenient.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertbryce/2020/10/21/googles-dominance-is-fueled-by-zambia-size-amounts-of-electricity/ (sorry for the paywall it’s just the first article I came across)

  2. ” due to pressure from advertisers, who didn’t want their products associated with content promoting climate denial…” – So why are they not removing the dogma promoting human caused climate change? That’s promoting a religion. Science constantly tests established theory, rejects the Biden “We accept truth over facts” position where the “truth” is dogma the establishment would have us believe. By manipulating the flow of information, declaring contradictory information as false or obliterating it, they propagandizes us into believing it. They “sell” their “Truth” as established unquestioned fact. That’s Orwellian. According to Speer, it was the means by which Hitler channeled the German people into a totalitarian state through absolute control of mass media. It is mind control. The AGW cabal denigrates those who oppose them by charging them with denying climate change (note the above “climate denial”) – which they do not, and by this means suppresses questions about whether human activity can affect it and whether their attempts may have deleterious effects on the environment or on populations of “disadvantaged” countries. Note that the most outspoken promoters live in energy consuming mansions, own ship sized yachts, fly private jets to exotic locations to discuss regulating and taxing the rest of us because they disapprove of our proletarian lifestyles – and who demonize and persecute any disputants.

  3. Why not? The Nazis did it– unquestioned eugenics theory that led to the euthanasia of the unfit– so it must be OK.

Because, you see, the entire basis of science is that it can never be questioned.

    Now it makes sense.

Slowly things happen that make no sense, and the people stand in awe of how this is happening. Others champion the ascendancy of “science” and clamor for purifying society of elements spreading misinformation and disease. History is repeating.

Mass psychosis unfolds, and those stepping into line are certain they’re living in the real world and that persecution and intolerance are justified. They welcome totalitarianism with open arms as they know they’ll be able to “stay safe” from authoritarian wrath, and possibly be rewarded, by simple obedience.
