During Montpelier visit, Turning Point USA calls out use of fear and control by the political left

STANDING UP TO CANCEL CULTURE: Turning Point USA media figure Isabel Brown tells young, conservative Vermonters that they have to take initiative if they expect to win their country back.

MONTPELIER — Turning Point USA media figure Isabel Brown appeared at the Capitol Plaza on Thursday evening and spoke to young Vermonters about how to stand up to aggressive tactics coming from the political left.

“This culture war that we are a part of requires our active participation from every single person in this room and beyond if we want America to resemble anything like it has in the past,” Brown said.

Turning Point is a national organization that seeks to connect with youth in their teens and twenties about freedom, free markets and constitutional values. Brown is known for her new book, “Frontlines,” which chronicles her experiences at the strongly liberal Colorado State University, where she recalls professors crying in front of students after the 2016 presidential election, and where conservatives were shunned by professors and students alike.

Brown didn’t intend to get into politics, she said, but her experience with left-wing indoctrination on campus drove her to become active and engaged in current events.

During her address, she shared a story of a class trip to Cuba where she and about a dozen other students visited the impoverished communist nation. Brown said the trip was advertised by some as a visit to a socialist paradise, but for her, that quickly changed upon arrival. She said several dozen Cubans each day would beg for any chance to escape.

“All these people had seen socialism that day, and touched socialism and smelled socialism, and had spoken to people who literally would propose to us several dozen times a day … to go back [with us] to the United States with any means possible to achieve the American dream,” she said.

She urged that conservatives, especially young people in classrooms, need to speak up.

“When you don’t raise your hand in class and encourage your peers to think a different way, when there are not conservatives involved in clubs on campuses or running a Turning Point USA chapter or in student government, it is very likely that socialism, and getting rid of the First Amendment, and identity politics, and critical race theory, are the only ideologies that these students will ever hear,” she said.

She also claimed Generation Z, the generation born in the late 90s and early 2000s, is the most conservative in nearly a century, and said cancel culture is facing resistance in society.

“This week Dr. Seuss books [are] front and center at every Target location … [and] at the very top of the Amazon best-seller list. It turns out every time the left tries to cancel something, it always backfires — and I guarantee you a lot of that has to do with our identity as Gen Z,” Brown said.

Regarding COVID-19, Brown, who has a degree in biomedical sciences, suggested that political leaders are using fear of the virus to control mass populations.

“Fear has been used in the last 12 calendar months — now that we hit the one-year anniversary of ’15 days to contain the spread’ — to convince people that they are better off in their basements, wearing a mask inside their house that has three layers,” she said.

“It’s fear that’s been keeping you out of your jobs, out of school, inside your house, unable to visit your grandparents or your elderly relatives, or even have any semblance of a normal life, and it’s fear that’s driving this idea of the new normal,” she said.

State Rep. Samantha Lefebvre, R-Orange, attended the event. During a question and answer session, she said there is hope for young Republicans if they just make an effort.

“I’m 25 years old and I took out a Democratic seat,” she told the crowd, adding that she also had just been elected chair of the Orange County Republicans.

Turning Point member Melody Martin also spoke, and said many young people feel frustrated that they aren’t able to make a difference.

“Something I see a lot of, and I’m a high schooler, is an attitude of — I don’t know if not caring is the right word — but some feel that they have no impact on government when decisions are made,” she said.

Brown responded to Coelho, saying young conservatives overall are doing well once they get engaged.

“They understand that politics, typically, is not about who runs for president every four years or what’s said at the State of the Union address, but politics is about culture,” she said.

  1. Dem/Progs are well aware they control the major media of the US.
It gives them an excess of impunity to impose their will on all sorts of issues.

This is not a new trend. It started in the 1970s, due largely to consolidation, and some multi-billionaires deciding it would be a good thing to own a major news outlet, such as Bill Gates owning MS-NBC.

That condition is a major headwind for Republicans, in Vermont and elsewhere.

That condition gives license to Dem/Progs to conduct fraudulent elections, and get away with the frauds unscathed, and having those frauds covered up, or minimized by the US media.

Thereby, Dem/Progs take total power over the government and exert command and control over the US people, without any meaningful checks and balances.

Even the US Supreme Court is afraid to step up to the plate to do JUSTICE, for fear of “Court Packing”, as has been threatened by Schumer; “all issues are on the table” covers that as well.

Federal Judge Alleges Democrats Are Close to Controlling All Major News Outlets

A federal judge this week said that the Democrat Party is close to controlling the press as he detailed what he described as shocking bias against Republicans.

D.C. Circuit Court Judge Laurence Silberman outlined his opposition to the Supreme Court’s key decision in 1964 in New York Times v. Sullivan, which has since protected many media outlets from lawsuits.

Silberman, a Reagan appointee, wrote that the ruling is “a threat to American Democracy” and must be overturned.

“The increased power of the press is so dangerous today because we are very close to one-party control of these institutions.

Our court was once concerned about the institutional consolidation of the press leading to a ‘bland and homogenous’ marketplace of ideas.

It turns out that ideological consolidation of the press (helped along by economic consolidation) is the far greater threat,” he continued.

“Although the bias against the Republican Party—not just controversial individuals—is rather shocking today, this is not new; it is a long-term, secular trend going back at least to the ’70s. (I do not mean to defend or criticize the behavior of any particular politician).

Two of the three most influential papers (at least historically), The New York Times and The Washington Post, are virtually Democratic Party broadsheets. And the news section of The Wall Street Journal leans in the same direction.

The orientation of these three papers is followed by The Associated Press and most large papers across the country (such as the Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, and Boston Globe).

Nearly all television—network and cable—is a Democratic Party trumpet. Even the government-supported National Public Radio follows along,” he added.

  2. Kudos to these young people, they get it! In 105 days, we will recognize the 245th anniversary of our independence from the tyranny of the British Empire. That gives us plenty of time to prepare to
declare our independence from the tyranny of “King Philip” of the state of Vermont that has made us out to be “subjects” rather than free citizens for over a year. We must muster up the courage to stand up for our rights and never again allow ourselves to be lorded over by politicians drunk on their power. God Bless the USA!

  3. We need to get to the bottom of what’s happened in the past year and it is not that a deadly pandemic encircled the globe. What really happened is that the WHO and the CDC threw out their pandemic preparedness plans– none of which had urged lockdowns during pandemics– and opted instead for a policy inspired by an authoritarian regime, China, that would destroy livelihoods and businesses and freedoms.

We have significant evidence that the WHO has been compromised and is acting in China’s interests. This isn’t “conspiracy theory” and it’s hardly wild speculation. The journalist Michael P. Senger makes the case that the entire world has been following a script laid out by the Chinese Communist Party:

“For decades, the CCP has co-opted scientists through its unparalleled overseas influence network, the United Front Work Department, which expanded dramatically under [Chinese President] Xi. In June, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced that 189 of its grantees had received undisclosed funding from foreign governments. In 93% of cases, including that of Charles Lieber, chair of Harvard’s chemistry department, the undisclosed funding came from China.” Maybe we can now understand some of the mechanisms behind Stanford University scientists ganging up to write a letter denouncing Dr. Scott Atlas, coronavirus advisor to President Trump, for arguing against lockdowns.

Let’s not forget that Dr. Fauci is aligned with China through grants made from his NIAID to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, through the Ecohealth Alliance.

    Worth reading: https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/china-covid-lockdown-propaganda

What has happened has not been “following the science,” but following the propaganda originating from an authoritarian regime and a compromised WHO, and perpetuated in the US by an alliance that erodes bedrock principles of freedom and self-determination.

  4. I am pleased to see younger Republican Vermonters use their abundant energy to finally change the Dem/Prog toxic/corrosive dominance of Vermonts’s government.

Dem/Progs have presided over a near-zero, real-growth Vermont economy for MORE THAN TWENTY YEARS.

Dem/Progs are ANTI PRIVATE ENTERPRISE, because they want to institute Socialism, a slice at a time
Dem/Progs think Cuba, Venezuela, USSR ( Bernies’s preferred honeymoon country) are great for Vermont to emulate.

Dem/Progs spent well over $2 billion on energy projects during the past TWENTY YEARS
The net result was CO2 INCREASED, even though these failed programs were promised to REDUCE CO2; total crapola.

Dem/Progs want to have hundreds of $350,000 electric school buses, that last at most 15 years, and would save about $2,500/y, and reduce CO2 at a cost of almost $3000/metric ton; of-the-charts ridiculous.
    https://www.windtaskforce.org/profiles/blogs/electric-bus-systems-likely-not-cost-effective-in-vermont-at

Energy efficiency measures to reduce energy consumption, CO2, and energy costs, such as by 1) exchanging traditional light bulbs for LED bulbs, and 2) insulating and sealing energy-hog housing and other buildings, and 3) increasing the mileage of existing gasoline vehicles, cost $50 to $200 per metric ton, much less than the $3,000/Mt of electric school buses.

Everything Dem/Progs touch ends up costing 2 to 3 times more than it should.
The more of such Dem/Prog government, the more the Vermont economy stays in the doldrums.

Dem/Progs have various scare-mongering techniques, and “movements” to perpetuate their taxing power and their centralized command/control of Vermonters lives, culture and livelihoods.

The various left-wing groups behave like riotous, troublemaker, deranged, cancel-Vermont-culture zealots.
The want to make sure they get their points across.
The left-leaning Vermont Media, chimes in, and supports whatever outrageous, unseemly acts they engage in to inflame passions.

Dem/Progs want to remake Vermonters, break their will, subdue them, cow them to fight climate change, or whatever, i.e., a futile tilting at windmills; even the all-knowing, no-mask-wearing, private-jet-setter, John Kerry admits it, as would any sane person.

They have gotten hold of government power, by hook and by crook, to command and control, to drag free-thinking Vermonters where THEY think we should go, which would end up serving THEIR INTERESTS, not ours.

Republicans have to vote them out!!
