Doctors in banned viral video: No evidence that lockdowns effectively limit virus spread

Editor’s note: A video press briefing featuring Accelerated Urgent Care doctors Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi of Bakersfield, Calif., has been taken down off YouTube multiple times. A statement from YouTube says the video was pulled because it “explicitly disputes the efficacy of local health authority recommended guidance on social distancing that may lead others to act against that guidance.”

Two emergency room doctors in California argue the data about the novel coronavirus does not warrant a stay-at-home order. A new report gives evidence that “lockdowns don’t work.” Still others argue that quarantining the sick, not the healthy, is the best course of action.

In a 51 minute interview with 23 ABC News, Dr. Dan Erickson and Dr. Martin Massihi, of Accelerated Health Care in Bakersfield, California, talked about the impact of the coronavirus on Kern County, arguing that the ongoing stay-at-home orders are not based on data or science.

As the data has come in, which Erickson says he’s collected since December, he asked, “We’ve never ever responded like this in the history of the country, why are we doing this now?”

He said people are worrying too much about the virus because the media is telling them to.

“I’m telling them that sheltering in place decreases your immune system and as we all come out of shelter in place, with a lower immune system and start trading viruses and bacteria, what do you think is going to happen? Disease is going to spike,” he said. “And then you’ve got disease spike amongst a hospital system with furloughed doctors and nurses. This is not the combination we want to set up for a healthy society.”

Of the total patients Accelerated Health Care tested for the coronavirus, 6.5 percent tested positive for the virus. Statewide, the number is 12 percent positive. Of 39 million people in the state, that equates to roughly 4.7 million people testing positive for the coronavirus. The good news, Erickson says, it is widespread, and the death rates aren’t. The chance of dying from the coronavirus is 0.03 percent in California, he says based on the raw data.

“The initial models were woefully inaccurate,” Erickson said. “They predicted millions of cases of death, not of prevalence or incidents, but death. That is not materializing.”

Some of the models, he says, were based on social distancing but even those predicted hundreds of thousands of deaths, which has not happened. Slightly more than 1,200 people have died from the virus in California.

Based on the death rates influenza A and B, he says the death rates are not worse for coronavirus. Of the 45 million cases of the flu in 2017, there were 62,000 deaths, or 0.13 percent. The swine and bird flus were more deadly and neither constituted shutting down the economy.

The question Erickson asks is whether the coronavirus’ 0.03 percent death rate necessitates the shelter-in-place order, shutting down the state’s medical systems, and putting a record number of Californians out of work.

  1. If I ever got sick in Bakersfield, I sure as heck will NOT go to these certified Urgent Care doctors. If I were given a choise between these two and Drs. Fausi and Brick, the selection would be a no brainer. The chances of using the urgent care doctors are slim to none and slim just left town.

    • Dr. Fauci is … well, I’m not going to say what I think because that would be impolite. He originally said in the New England Journal of Medicine, back in February, that Covid-19 was looking a lot like typical flu pandemics, such as what we saw in 1957 and 1968. Later, he testified to Congress that it’d be 10x worse than the flu, yet there was not then, and is not now, any evidence that this is 10x worse than the flu. He had it right the first time.

Furthermore, the good Dr. Fauci has poo-pooed early hydroxychloroquine treatment for Covid-19 as outlined in the Zelenko protocol. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vT4I4Ls6RAsDqSaKBVIdLPIKFNs7tbWWzZ3eP1NrNltiiZqmUHK-rPDLxeN2qvt0es1S-v6jP29S_T1/pub

Here’s the question I have that makes me think Dr. Fauci is grossly incompetent or worse: granted, we don’t know if the Zelenko protocol will work, but why hasn’t Dr. Fauci asked 100 doctors to test the exact protocol and report back? This would be easy and quick. Would it as rigorous as a double-blind placebo controlled trial? No, but we don’t have time for that, and the clinical experience of 100 doctors would be an excellent way to get a preliminary read on whether or not the protocol had value. Note that this protocol is not for patients at death’s door; this protocol is an early treatment whose value, according to Zelenko and others, is that it had an extremely high rate of prevention of hospitalization– never mind deaths!– in patients who were Covid-19 positive. If that claim is true, this is wonderful news.

We have good explanations of the biochemistry of the medications used in the Zelenko protocol and everything checks out: it makes sense that this would work.

Dr. Fauci has a lot to answer for. His failure to do any preliminary assessment of the Zelenko protocol is inexcusable, and he is, after all, the Director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases.

Vermont should independently test the Zelenko protocol, but my guess is that this won’t happen. Why not? Because Fauci doesn’t want to test it, therefore the CDC doesn’t want to test it, therefore the Vermont Department of Health will not test it. Instead of testing it, Vermont may do what Governor Cuomo did in NY state, where Zelenko works: Governor Cuomo limited the ability of pharmacies to dispense hydroxychloroquine, so that those who want to use the protocol are having a hard time finding the medication. After all, that’s the rational way to handle the promise of a potential treatment, right?

Anyone else think that all this doesn’t pass the smell test?

    • I would always rather go to a practicing physician that a academic…

How many academics have sowed up a bad cut or a bullet wound?

How many have saved a child having an asthma attack?

How many have fixed a retina de-attachment?

That is a no brainer for me! By the way I watched the whole clip.

    • Yes, how ironic that you would deride two doctors who actually work in medicine and treat real patients while you would take the word of career bureaucrats unquestionably. You aren’t fooling anyone, Gilhooly.

  2. This plandemic is a last-ditch effort to unseat our President.
There never has been, and probably never can be a coronavirus vaccine. It’s the common cold, in this case a weaponized version, which mutates constantly.
The fact that these doctors are being censored proves what we have sensed, that it is not dangerous for the vast majority of people, and no lockdown can prevent its spread.
Our immune systems are the only real defense.
This lockdown is killing us. Politicians: END THE LOCKDOWN NOW!
Investigate Fauci, Bilgates, and their plans for forced vaccination with RFID chips embedded.
They are traitors to humanity and belong in prison, forever. Cuomos should be charged with murder, for putting sick patients in nursing homes to infect frail, elderly people and killing them, while their hospitals were emptied and the hospital ship left unused. Evil, wicked people.

    • To hell with the or any LOCKDOWN. No elected Constitution violator politician is going to tell me what I can and cannot do. They listen to Bill Gates, Soros and the NWO. When elected, these elected believe they know more than the people that elected them and become the masters. BS. If people in masses violate the elected orders, and openly protest and take to the streets, the elected with their brown stripped enforcers can’t do nothing. Election time is coming.
