Never in history has man had such a wealth of information at his fingertips. A few relevant words put into a search engine and you can learn that the Boston Red Sox baseball team started playing in Fenway Park in 1912. Want to know how to make lasagna? Just ask for a recipe and you are ready to cook. While that may be true with sports issues and recipes, when it comes to searching for neutral or a fair and balanced honest citing of sources on political issues or other controversial matters, that is not the case, especially if you rely on first page reporting of relevant links in a Google search. Finding historical truth about the Republican and Democrat parties can be as difficult as finding the proverbial needle in a haystack.

Many well-educated people don’t know that Abraham Lincoln not only had an “R” after his name but his Republican Party was the party that abolished slavery. Down through history, Republicans changed the nation’s direction from one of slavery to one that recognized the sacred worth of every human. Through the years they built a structure and they handed it down to us today, but now the pillars of that society are being torn down, brick by brick, by those who would reject individual achievement for one where big government is to provide our every need. That will destroy our bright-light-on-the-hill nation and will bring its own form of slavery upon the people.
Real Republicans know the true history of their party and are proud of it because Republicans were then on the right side of history — and we must see to it that Republicans will remain there. The symbol of our party, the elephant, is admired for never forgetting and so, in like manner, we learn the true facts and we jealously hold onto them. We won’t forget! Our pachyderm has a thick skin and that’s another good characteristic to have, especially in my position as chair of the VTGOP, where having a thick skin is not only desirable, sometimes it’s a necessity. I am a volunteer, neither receiving salary or reimbursement for expenses, so it really is important that I believe in what I do. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve in this way and proud of our Grand Old Party, founded by patriots who cherished liberty and individual rights to the point that they were willing to fight and even die for them.
There is a richness and sense of high purpose being a Republican that comes from the past, is present now, and will be in the future — and that is why I feel so honored to be a part of it. Republicans today can stand proud and tall as they remember those strong principles that birthed their party and led to the strong nation we became that is the envy of the world. Vermont needs once again to embrace Republicans to bring our government under control and returned to its main purpose of protecting the people so they can innovate, prosper, raise healthy families and raise future productive citizens.
The Bible teaches that it is the obligation of parents to train and instruct their children in godly things. In politics, the same principle applies, and for many generations our ancestors did pass the ideals of freedom and justice to their daughters and sons. That tried and true way is what we should rely on instead of online search engines that will lie and deceive. There is a Celtic song “Your Daughters and Your Sons,” and it speaks of the seeds of freedom, justice, equality and peace. The chorus tells how this will end, but we must be true to it and teach our children these things if it is to be so: “Now your music’s playing and the writing’s on the wall and all the dreams you painted can be seen by one and all. Now you’ve got them thinking and a victory you have won, for you’ve sowed the seed of freedom in your daughter’s and your sons.“

In spite of all the criticisms that you received from those that don’t respect the Republican party you continue on.

Here are two questions I have. First, why do states like California and Vermont, two of the potentially most beautiful and desirous states in the Union, always seem to elect Democrats to run the show, even when it’s obvious the states are going to Hell in a handbasket? Second question, why do the Republicans continue to allow the Progressive Democrats to control the dialog? Because they shout louder? What has been written in this article I have written several times in comments. The Republicans abolished slavery, they did not create the KKK nor did they have a member of the KKK hierarchy among their ranks, and they did not create the Jim Crow laws. It was the Democrats all the way. The Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Bill in higher numbers than the Democrats (no southern Democrats voted for it), it just happened a Democrat president signed it into law. LBJ, one of the most racists of presidents, did but how could he not sign it. He would be showing his true colors. I am a conservative Republican. The first Republican in my family. I started voting at the time of LBJ and saw his socialist agenda and could not condone the Democrat Party because I saw through their “Great Society” baloney for what it was even at the age of 21. My Democrat family were good God-fearing conservatives who wanted nothing from the government but to be left alone. I saw the Democrat Party was moving toward socialism but why were others so blind they could not see that or, worst of all, think it was a good idea? My family continued to vote Democrat, as have the Blacks and the Jewish people. I could never vote for anyone who proved time and time again to be against my best interests. And yet I see it every day in my beloved United States. Believe me, my grandchildren have every DVD of “Learn Our History” and are at the perfect age to start showing them how wonderful this Country is and has always been. We fail, the rest of the world fails. When we thrive, the rest of the world comes along for the ride. President Trump has shown that to be true. We need to trust him and make sure he gets another term. Then we need to find a good successor and there are many out there. We just cannot let the Democrats win again. We owe that to our forefathers.
Well said Deb. The people need to hear it. The liberals don’t want to hear it or just won’t listen to it as you know, for they know what’s best and everyone else is stupid. We need to save ourselves from the liberals.
Seldom, never, is it mentioned today, which political Party fought and died trying to Defend slavery.
Seldom is it mentioned today which Party supported the “apartiet” which reigned in the South for 90 years after the North Won the War and freed the slaves. Sit in the back of the bus, drink from the black fountain, don’t be an uppity “ni**er”. blacks and whites were severely segregated.
But, we are told that it is the Democrats who are the true heroes for black and other black folks
It is seldom mentioned that the cities with the worst living conditions for minorities have been ruled by Democrats for many decades.

I am a REPUBLICAN!!! Have been from day one. I’m proud to state that the first vote a was eligible to cast was for Barry Goldwater. As for Vermont, I long for the days of Jim Douglas and a responsible legislature.
Sounds like a wonderful song, well said. It is very tough to get through all the propaganda. People sign up for “news feeds” on their cell phones when in fact they are feeds of propaganda. Propaganda, good propaganda is all truth, but it spins the story such that you believe the opposite of what happened.
One of the reasons the bible is banned in many, probably all dictatorships would rather not have it under their rule is because it helps,people,discern truth from lies with simple stories.
Know them by their fruit is a classic one.
In Vermont some profess to be champions of the down trodden. question, if they are champions are they making it easier to live in our state? Is Vermont Affordable for the modest? Are more people being caught in a poverty trap? Are families getting stronger from time tested truths? Are people getting rich off keeping people poor?
Know them by their fruit, the Vermomt banana is very dark and the fruit flies circle. Time for change.
