Climate change council coming to Windham Southeast

This article by Chris Mays originally appeared Aug. 1 in the Brattleboro Reformer.

PUTNEY — Kurt Daims of Brattleboro has been pushing for the issue of climate change to be discussed during every Windham Southeast School District meeting.

“That’s the way that recognizes the feeling of emergency I think many people in the public have,” he told the school board last week, “so that they can be assured that like national security during a wartime, which the climate crisis approaches, it’s always on the agenda for them to address.”

A nonbinding resolution to include agenda items on climate change at every meeting had been proposed by Daims and approved at the annual school district last month. His motion was amended to also direct the board to make decisions with an eye toward economic, social and racial justice.

Last Wednesday, the Windham Southeast School District Board of Directors approved a motion to establish a policy that would create a climate change council to advise on sustainability issues. The eight-member board — responsible for governing schools in Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford and Putney — also will be working with leadership councils made up of people representing different schools and other committees.

  1. Look, even Michael Moore is figuring it out… all this alternative energy line is falling fat on it’s face.

    https://www.weareiowa.com/news/national-news/new-michael-moore-backed-doc-tackles-alternative-energy/

“Gibbs, who produced Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” and “Fahrenheit 9/11,” didn’t set out to take on the environmental movement. He said he wanted to know why things weren’t getting better. But when he started pulling on the thread, he and Moore said they were shocked to find how inextricably entangled alternative energy is with coal and natural gas, since they say everything from wind turbines to electric car charging stations are tethered to the grid, and even how the Koch brothers are tied to solar panel production through their glass production business.”

Oh oh… don’t tell folks in VT that the solar panels on their house helped put dinner on the plate of a Koch brother!

Vermont has been sold a load of crap and they continue to feast on it. Wake up and fix it while you still can. Paying .18/kwh is more then 3 times what I’m paying currently. If I was a industry that consumed a lot of electricity WHY would I come to VT to establish a business when I have a fixed cost that is considerably HIGHER then the rest of the country.

    Stupid is stupid does.

  2. Its too bad none of these climate change fanatics don’t have the brains to figure out there is no such thing as renewable energy that eliminates CO2. The manufacturing of solar panels and EV batteries produces more CO2 then they save. Not to mention the waste that has to be disposed of when they no longer work.

I’m also not impressed with the theory, that started in the last 1970s with the climate is heading us into another ice age and when that failed to prove true, it became we have 12 years before the CO2 will make it impossible to live. And both of these came right after the population bomb failed to starve most of the people on earth to death. Its all crap.

  3. Daims may want to get up to speed on the climatetardism snooze reports.. GND, the pinnacle of war
on mother nature, instigators have admitted their 7 trillion war effort was for implementing Socialism.
So I would suggest he change the name of his little club to Brattleboro Commie nonSense. They might
want to address the bigger local problem of 5 businesses closing down in one month, and go for
sustaining Brattleboro instead of the climate which will do what ever the hell it wishes..

  4. What are “sustainability issues”? Storing canned food? AGW is a fanatic religion. The state should not fund its activities nor treat it as a quasi State established religion. “Emergencies” are wildfire, flood, meteor strike, tornado, drought – crisis events, not events that occur over hundreds of years.

  5. Climate Change Council???? How much will that feel good boon dogle cost and you know who will be stuck with the bill.
