New Hampshire ranks first out of the 50 states when it comes to taxpayer rate of return, according to a new analysis. WalletHub compared the 50 states across the areas of health, safety, education, economy and infrastructure and pollution.

New Hampshire’s property taxes among highest in country

A new study shows New Hampshire ranks third highest in the country for high property taxes. According to findings released by financial website WalletHub, the state has a 2.18% tax rate with consumers paying $5,701 in real estate taxes on a home with a $261,700 median value.

Democrats vow to act on gun control, but nothing is likely to happen

While the Senate will likely vote on H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446, two gun control bills that passed the House last week, they would both need 60 votes to overcome an all but certain Republican filibuster. There is even division among Democrats, as West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin came out against both bills Tuesday.

Almost 50% of Americans said that they had visited family or friends in the past month, according to the poll, up from just 39% in February. And 45% said that they had gone out to eat, up 12 points from the past month as well.

According to the survey, financial worries have surpassed coronavirus as the top stressor in the country, with 30 percent saying money problems are their biggest concern — 15 percent higher than last year — compared to 28 percent who said the virus is.
