Taxes, workers’ rights propositions, amendments split state by state

Massachusetts Question 1 passed, increasing the personal income tax by 4% for those earning more than $1 million in the state. The amendment will be in addition to the already existing 5% flat income tax, shifting the state’s flat tax system to a progressive one.

Mortgage payments surge 50% since last year as homebuyers get priced out

As mortgage rates climbed, typical monthly mortgage payments on existing single-family homes with a 20% down payment skyrocketed by 50% in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the year prior, according to data released by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Thursday.
